Roberto De Zerbi *OFFICIAL*

He's saying the things nobody else has said before. His mentality stuff isn't generic corporate speak. He seems to have confidence he knows where the issue is. Let's hope he stays and gets to rebuild us, be it in the Championship or the PL.
Is he saying that if you think about something too hard and for too long that all kinds of wild negative theories, suppositions, assumptions and conjectures start flying around......it's not useful and he's sick of it?

Yep, he talks on the front foot. He seems to be focusing on what he has versus what he hasn't got to get us out of this mess.

Loved the focus on Tel. There were so many times when I felt Ange or Frank could have used the presser to publicly get behind their players but they personally chose not to. They went all non-emotional and even evasive about bigging up their own players, especially the ones they hadn't selected in recent games.

I'm hoping the difference is that RDZ can say these things publicly and then get right down into the minutia and drive the detail that these words require. Can we spot the difference with Tel at the weekend? Will he be the match winner? I mean, how good would that be?

He always does enough considering how bad we have been

Just listened to his press conference now, and I felt like I wanted to stand on my table and scream "Captain, my Captain" (look it up!).

He's the anti Frank. A man who believes he can improve players, raise their morale, being them to a higher level of performance and most of all win matches. I've no idea why he went the way he did, but Thomas Frank was none of those things.

I really hope we spank villa on Sunday. They are vulnerable right now, still quality, but vulnerable, and with an eye on getting the semi final overturned next week this could be a great time for us to get a result.

37 points if forest lose over the weekend makes it a three horse race again. We have to beat villa.

It is incredible to me that our previous manager made a virtue of talking us down. I know De Zerbi is in a very particular situation where there is almost no other option but to try and boost the player’s confidence, but really, what was there to be gained from saying things like ‘we’re not really a CL club, we only got there by winning the Europa League’ or ‘we will lose football matches’?

What were our players supposed to think? What kind of impact would that kind of talk have had on them? Because it’s clear De Zerbi is taking a different tack, and judges that their confidence has taken a battering. Why did it need to have done so?

Whether it works in the short-term or not, it really is nice to have someone who speaks in terms of what we can achieve rather than what we can't. And someone who sticks up for the club. Not bricking on the players, not bricking on the medical staff, shutting down fan-created conspiracies about injuries. Things you constantly read from fans on here.

The voice says, ‘we are unlucky, we have too many injuries, we lost Xavi Simons and he was the last two games one of the best players and most important players for us, our medical staff is not good enough and the pitch of the stadium is not good, the pitch of the training ground is not good, it is impossible to win two or three games in a row because we have not won too many games in 2026,’ I think it is all negative things. And it is rubbish because I want to keep my focus on ourself and the quality of my players.

We go to play against one of the best teams in this moment in Premier League, we have a big respect for Emery as a coach, but if Tottenham win in Villa Park, it is not a miracle. Maybe we lose, I don’t know but we have the quality to win this game and it is not a miracle, so I think we have to be positive and to be lucky because we are working in a big club. If Solanke and Xavi are injured, we can play with Kolo Muani, Mathys Tel, Richarlison and I think they are not worse players.

They are different as characters, but are very good players. We have Pedro Porro, we have Udogie, we have Micky van de Ven, we have Bentancur, we have Palhinha, we have Gallagher and Gallagher two! For that all these things and I have not too much to listen and to hear this (negative) things.
