Championship 2026/27 - Teambuilding

The team would be

Kinsky
Spence
Danso
Vuskovic
Udogie

Grey
Bergval
Maddison

Odobert
Solanke / Lankshear
Tel

Anyone who thinks we are going to sell 10+ first team players are very deluded. We will force some to stay and other coming back from big injuries will need a season in a lower league like Madders and Odobert.

Gray and Bergvall will be in La Liga. They will have the biggest of all the suitors (along with Vuskovic)
Spurs in championship can pay higher wages than all La Liga clubs other than the big 3 and they aren't going there. Spurs in the championship can pay higher wages than most Premier League clubs 2bh. We are an outlier in keeping our wage bill only circa 40%-50% of our income and we still pay almost double the wages of each of the 12 lowest payers in the PL.

This is what you are going to run into with this idea of a mass exodus of our players. For the most part they couldn't even afford their wages and all they'd be offering is playing a higher level of football at a sh*tter stadium, sh*tter training ground and for a less prestigious club brand for less money.

It wont matter when they demand out. It will be like West Ham losing Defoe, Kanoute, Ferdinand, Carrick and Cole. The vultures will come for the high ceiling crown jewels, not the established older players

Remember Barca wanted Bergvall, Madrid want Gray and Bayern Vuskovic. They are hardly less prestigious brands

Bergvall won't get a game for Barca. Gray won't get a game for Madrid and Vuskovic same at Bayern. It'll be better for their careers to play for Spurs in the championship. They are not like Romero who at 28 really needs to be priming in his career. The West Ham crown jewells was a completely different kettle of fish because again we go back to the relative financial strength and prospects of both clubs. When West Ham went down financially they were small-fry even in the PL.

I say it again, Spurs have grown commercially to be a complete juggernaught. There is no precedent for a club like us to be relegated. Financially we will still dwarf most PL clubs and our infrastructure and brand recognition are off the charts compared to most clubs that our players could realistically get a game for.

There isn't going to be mass interest in our players from Bayern, Madrid etc because nobody would look at the performances of any one of our players over the last 2 seasons and not have serious reservations over form, fitness and mentality to cope consistently at the top level.

The senior pros weren't wanted when they were in the PL, why anyone thinks that there will be a queue for them when they are in the Championship baffles me.

My biggest worry is that we won’t be able to shift the bad apples that we need to.
Are there bad apples? I don't get that impression. If anything my impression was quite the opposite. We don't have enough nasty c*nts in the team who are going to do what Brobbey did for Sunderland the other night and also challenge and call out in the dressing room. I think this Tim Nice But Dim squad paired with Frank Nice But Dull As a Plank was the recipe for a disaster (an overly polite disaster featuring cucumber sandwiches and a pot of average tea)

I think we have a fair few who think they are better than they are and that then informs their attitude.
