The "If we go down" thread

The same Redknapp that didn’t hesitate in throwing Darren Bent under the bus. Don’t be fooled, if Redknapp didn’t get a tune out of the players he’d dropped them like the proverbial sack of brick quicker than Tudor imo …
Fair point on Bent but hopefully Harry's learnt from all the fallout from that. I still think he'd be the one to get the best out of the players or, at least better short term personality wise and with tactical simplicity.

Don’t want Klinsmann anywhere near this club. When he was still a half decent manager and we were linked he was asked if he would take over and he pretty much said he was too big for us. fudge him, i don’t care if he is a legend.
I’ve never seen him as the legend he’s cracked up to be.

His entire style is based on that approach, so I don’t think it’s at all personal (did I recently read that he’s a Spurs fan?)

The article has a deep ring of truth though.

He was born a Spurs fan, into a Spurs family, but suffered terribly from football dysphoria because he developed a secret love from Arsenal. He suggested once that his suffering would be eased if the clubs were to merge.

I accept those points for sure, his style has always been that way. I miss absolute titans of the press like the late, and very great, Kevin McCarra, not only a wonderful writer but such a decent man...

No to defeatism! It’s still in our hands.
Full-on positive vibes are needed. Not sure where they’re going to come from however.
Unfortunately it’s become the biggest story in English football and apparently it’ll be a good thing if we go down. In the same way that it was going to be wonderful that Leicester won the league a couple of months before it actually happened.

Oh I know. Pretty much every fan of every other club is hoping we go down. And that’s before you get to the media where I bet the articles have already been drafted and Sky will be hoping our last home game is the decider where they can revel in our plight.
That’s why we need a siege mentality from the fans. We can’t call the players out for not having it (well, we can I guess as it’s their job) if we the fans are resigned to us going down.

It will be seriously incompetent if we signed Vuskovic and he leaves without ever having played a season for us. He’s a generational talent. That said I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens.

I think Abbott will get chances in our team next season if we go down. Looks a great prospect and played well v Arsenal.

In the view from the lane podcast they said we could get a transfer fee for him not far off Kane's and mentioned Bayern would likely be interested. If we have someone as highly rated as that no way we should sell - should be rebuilding the team around him more like. Same with Gray, looks a really good player that would probably be OK with 1 season in the championship.

Was only a month ago some on here were still saying he should go on loan next season because he wouldn’t play ahead of Romero & VDV

That’s short sighted given that our players only play every other match at best these days. Neither Romero nor VDV will be available this weekend. It’s a squad game now, not a first team one especially with our injuries count.
