Interesting from Scott Munn, particularly as it pertains to his recommendations for a medical team overhaul not being adopted in full.

""We did a review into every department – the academy, medicine, everything… So yes, that happened. We wanted to come through with a number of changes and take the medical department to a level that equated to a big club in England. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make the changes we recommended – some parts were accepted, other parts weren’t. That wasn’t an optimal outcome," said Munn."

I remember a few years ago, reading that the club had issues with the number of a particular manager's staff that he wanted to bring over from his old club, and the size of his coaching staff overall. We limited the number of coaches he brought over and asked that he work with a smaller team - think it might have been Nuno.

I remember thinking this was ass-backwards - to save a couple of million in coaching wages, we were willing to risk handicapping a manager we had spent millions bringing over, and a playing squad worth hundreds of millions.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same penny-wise, pound-foolish approach was why these medical staff overhauls Munn wanted weren't approved.

Also might be why we didn't have an in-house psychotherapist/psychologist until Frank, when increasingly, every top club has multiple staff with these qualifications to manage the mental wellness of their players.

The general impression remains that at times, we're run like a club in the 2000s. That's fine for the 2000s and just about worked for the 2010s, but now it means we're 20-30 years behind the times.

I think he’s a trumper. This is an ar se-covering bunch of flim-flam. He is obviously leaving out quite a lot of stuff. He explains absolutely nothing BTW…in that same interview he also spoke of his ‘surprise’ at the intensity of the PL; the idiot. Isn’t it his fu-cking job to know the environent he is stepping into? Sorry mate, not having it from him…

Lovely dahlings, pass the champers and get another set of those canapes would you?!!!!!
This was one of their sales , Spurs manager after defeat tomorrow night.

I mean...it's tough to divorce this from our current situation as a club and their stupid impetuousness as a 'functioning board'...

The guy didnt have any affinity with football at all.

I hope we don't sell Sarr, he's inconsistent but still developing and definitely has some talent. Also has a really good engine which the others don't have.
Developing into what type of player exactly? He’s been with us 4(?) seasons now and other than having a lot of energy, I struggle to see what other above-average attributes he has?

I can see the upside in Bergvall and Gray but I just don’t ever see Sarr holding down a starting position in a competitive team. He has the odd good game but goes missing far too often and has had more than enough chances at this point IMO.

We have enough mediocrity, especially in midfield, and he goes with Bents and Biss for me.

A box to box midfielder who can both pass and score, he may not reach the top level but it's a squad game and he contributes far more than most plus he's been in a terrible team since he's been here. With a team that's better drilled and playing with more confidence he'll likely improve as well. I'd sell Bents and Biss over him.

I hope you’re right and I’m wrong, but I tend to judge players by comparing their strengths and weaknesses, and while he is decent at a couple things, I just don’t see the area of his game which is going to propel him into a starting XI type of player.

Does he have to be a starting 11 player to stay here? What about someone who's fairly good and starts maybe 20 PL games a year but can be depended upon to do well when called upon. Those players are valuable too.

Yes. IMO they should either be a) promising youngsters battling for a starting role, or b) experienced players with a fixed role. I just don’t think he has the ceiling to consider as “promising” anymore. He is a fine professional who will have a solid career, maybe add to his medal haul, but not a regular starter at a top team for me.

But again, I hope I am wrong.

What happens when owners’ kids taker the helm of their clubs…
