*** OMT Cursed FC v Eintract Frankfurt ***

Professional performance and good win. Think ensuring qualification for last 16 could be really important for us. I'm unsure whether we are going to get anymore signings over the line but the perception of us being there despite our league form could be helpful.

Let's hope the players use this as a positive moment and surprise us with a couple of unexpected wins in the tough run we now have 🙏

Worth quite a bit of Money that win
Group stage win €2.1m
1-8 finish Bonus €2m
Last 16 qualification €11m
Aparantly there is also another payment
The team in 36th get €275 000 while the top team gets 36 x 275000. As we finished 4th we get 33 x 275000 so €9075000.

In total I think we have guaranteed €33 975 000 on performance related money not including money which is just handed out anyway.

I'm never gonna use injuries as an excuse, but what we have done, without a minute of Kulu and Maddison, is impressive.
It's about time we start pushing this rhetoric, namely that our managers are constantly having to perform when deprived of some of their key players. Solanke changes us for the better, Udogie likewise, and both Kulu and Madders will as well when they return.

Notable that we didnt really miss Van Der Ven much tonight, Romero and Ted were great together.

Hopefully the players can get a few days break after the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game before a week on the training ground before Woolwich. A 3-5 day break could really do wonders later in the season.

That's sterlings wages for 2 years and enough to renew franks deal for another couple.

Be interested to know how much Heitinga is helping us recently. Tonight, it looked like Simons, Muani and Odobert were able to play closer together/in tighter groupings, and therefore be more decisive due to the FBs pushing higher with those 3 CBs. Is this something he has tweaked? It's noticeable...

Romero and Ted were great together.
Ted :D

They were good until about 35 minutes in; both went for the same header from that STUPID corner routine where we lay it back for Spence to hang one up at the back stick. Romero landed on Danso and Danso was limping for the rest of the match.

I thought it was strange to play Palhinha at RCB/right back for most of the game, he is very wooden for that and doesn't truly know the role. He did well but looked stiff trying to chase back.

I thought Gray looked superb tonight in tight spaces he danced and tricked his way out of trouble, and he had such a lovely burst of speed when he needs it. Also a great engine, he was in the back line next to Danso and 5 seconds later he was receiving it in the wide right channel.

I thought Odobert and Xavi were excellent tonight, both looked similar i.e. dancing feet, jinking, always moving. Xavi a couple of years ahead, but Odobert growing into that same vibe. Xavi always grabs the ball when he gets smashed from behind, making the ref give him the free kick.

I feel like that is a weight off our backs, we can revisit this CL thingy in mid March.

For now, focus on getting some players back from injury.

Oh yeah, and that PL thingy. We might get some points if we play with verve and gusto.

And who knows maybe we'll add another winger. Odobert has done well for me. But he needs some rotation. Tel can be a big player, he has it all to prove. Too much pressure on these younger attackers, but Simons looks settled now. Our only attacker who plays with real confidence in his ability.
