***OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Burnlio, Sat Jan 24th, 3pm***

Signing a left back and a midfielder was not our need. Sarr is back. Udigie is fit. But all season we have needed a striker and an attack midfielder or winger.

Some of passing is so poor , you don't have to be a superstar on mega wages to be able to make a simple pass of 10 yards yet so many of our squad can't manage a basic pass.
Scant consolation but Liverpool couldn't beat them last week in front of the much vaunted Kop and look how much the Scousers spent in the summer window.

Reminiscent of our form precisely 12 months ago… the PL negative spiral continues…

Tottenham have failed to win any of their last seven Premier League games (D1 L6), their longest winless run in the top-flight since a nine matches between May and October 2008.

The problem is that unlike last season there might actually be 17 teams better than us this time.

On Frank... 1-1. The obvious attacking sub of Tel for Danso just sitting there. Nope. Wait until 77 minutes and after they score. It's not even like it was some gung ho attacking change had he made it, just back to our normal 4-2-3-1. But getting another more attacking player on the pitch.

Thought Odobert had a really good game on a positive note.

Hope Porro wasn't injured.

Because the bar is so ridiculously low for our forwards, when they put in a 5/10 we think they’ve had a good game.

If VDV or Romero get injured, who is going to score goals for us? Serious question.

Feck know!

Knowing our incompetent transfer committee, we’ll cash in on MVDV and parlay that money into a load more youngsters who are years away from ever being Top 6 calibre finishers 💸

I only saw the second half. Really surprised to follow up the performance against Dortmund with a change to 3 at the back against the team 2nd bottom in the table. I can't see any reason for it and strikes me he's gone away not to lose and we were still poor defensively . Thought we definitely looked better when Danso came off and we changed shape although it was a low bar.

Tough run coming up in the league soon and if we haven't picked up many points this month i fear for our chances next. Honestly see him out by the end of February.

These two fudgers do it week in week out, don’t stay tight to their men, don’t win headers, don’t clear it quickly, get caught out of position and on the wrong side.

I think its about switching mindset. They are in, how do we play the ball through, avoid the press - for 90% of the game. Then suddenly they are required to defend and they aren't switching into that mindsetup and positioning.

I thought we dominated, and tbh the defensive side isn't an issue if we go and score a second.

There was a spell around 65 mins, where we lost some energy, and desperatly needed subs. Some players had played midweek and looked tired. Simons was spent, and had we got Tel or Manui on sooner, I think we would have continue to dominate. Whether we'd have scored or not, probably unlikley. Our attackers don't score!

This is worse than 12 months ago and far less understandable. The squad depth now is far more than then.

Today was a fairly typical performance from him as far as I have seen this season.

Yup, was much the same assortment of underhit attempted through-balls when I was at West Ham game last weekend and Simons very much looking like a 3rd choice signing.

Do feel sorry for the lad, as he’s still a youngster who clearly needs a season to get accustomed to the sheer physicality of PL and it was always a long-shot expecting Xavi to fill the huge void left by the long term (perhaps career ending) injuries to Kulusevski and Maddison.

He is better than Edwards. But looked tired to me. He did show his skill skipping away from a defender and crashing a shot into the underside of the bar. But that summed it up, just missing a fraction or two. I'll put it down to fatigue.

Thankfully we currently have our first choice CBs and goalie available (albeit Vicario’s inability to pass remains a glaring weakness) but I’d take that front 3 we had available 12 months ago over what we’re left with:

Richarlison (our current top scorer despite his injury) > a very rusty Solanke
Kulusevski (who run himself into the ground carrying our team) > little Xavi Simons
Sonny (whilst his legs were going he’d still scored 10 goals by this stage last year) > young Odobert or Tel
