Good player, very good even. Will probably come in and make a quick impact and be useful.
I think his qualities on the ball get somewhat underestimated, he's tidy. But I struggle to see that he's good enough to make a big dent in our ball progression issues through midfield. Better than Sarr on the ball, more secure than Bentancur perhaps. But not a huge difference.
Squad planning wise it doesn't make sense to me. For the short term give Frank what he needs here and now I definitely get it.

He's not as good as Gray or Bergvall, and is probably neck-and-neck with Sarr. Biss also has a lot more quality on the ball if we're going to try and turn around our possession problems

Gallagher is crap. He runs around at 100 mph. But he can't pass to save his life.

Spot on for me. I’m nailing my thoughts to the mast here and saying this would be a signing from hell for me. I watched him closely in a couple of England games last year and he was useless. Ball use was so so bad. He’s a busy high presser and that’s it.
There’s a reason Atletico want rid and Tuchel stopped picking him for England.

He was also captain under Poch and hugely impressive under him at Chelsea the season before he left.
I watched him alot for Palace and was lucky to have them as my club for liaison during Covid and he was tremendous there, utterly run the show.

No real decisive thought on the potential signing for me as yet, will see if it actually happens.
However one thing I would wonder is, would we make this signing if we had a fully fit squad? I.e do our scouts and recruitment team just really rate Gallaghers qualities, and think he would be a great addition to the club… or is he attainable and the deal is straight forward that he’s a 40 mill stop gap? I’d be curious as to the view.

What's the point though signing a 6th CM who can't particularly pass? Instead of one who can. It's a complete lack of strategy. The deadwood will hamstring us in the medium term too.

You have to be a good player to play prem and for country, I just remember thinking how bad he was in the couple of England games I saw.
