***Official Match Thread Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool Sat. 20th Dec. 5:30pm***

There were a couple of times when a quick release pass would have put us in but he didn't take that option. Contrast that with Bergvall for example who looks to moves the ball much faster. They are both coached by the same guy, but I think they think differently about how to attack.
I just remembered a 'nothing' moment tonight when Kudus found himself infield and hit a zinger of a shot which hit a defender or attacker, shame as it really had some zip.

When he is out wide he nearly always stands still, comes back 2 yards and swings in a cross. Rather dull. He does have a zinger of a shot if we can get him in those positions.

It's not just about quickly releasing the pass, he alwys took the safe option. He didn't run at players and into space when the option was there which is his supposed to be his strength.

But he does that a lot normally and often ends up being crowded out. Managers know what he is going to do so they prepare for that. Not surprising that he hasn't been as effective recently as at the start of the season. I don't think he is being asked to play safe by Frank tbh (although nothing wrong with not losing the ball especially when team confidence is low). I think it's just a part of his game he needs to work on. Otherwise he would be playing for better teams than us and WHAM.

Everyone is bored of Spurs in my house. I don’t blame them. This is tough times. Keep the faith
Even when we had good times (cup) it was bad. Its been bad since Poch. Not saying I want him back. But I wish we could stumble upon a team of people who can buy grown ups who are established and have a brain and are decent........and can play football and win some games.

That too much to ask for?

Crowded out? How can he crowded out when we are breaking and there is space to run into??
If your first concern is not to lose the ball then you are never going to create chances.

I actually feel pretty positive after that.
We looked decent for half an hour, we weren't negative, we were playing actual football.

Then Xavi does "that challenge" and it is a MASSIVE decision. Even Arne Slot was unsure about that one.

Then we have a deflected shot which hits the bar, seconds later they have a deflected cross which is perfect for Ekitike to push Romero in the back with 2 hands and nod in. That is scandalous, definitely a foul in 90% of decisions. That really kills us, so we just go crazy from that point.

But we played well, pushed them back, they actually looked pretty average and we showed we do have players to do well, IF THEY STEP UP.

I saw far more fight and desire and effort and responsibility tonight, because they were forced to do it. Mentality is huge.

Importantly; when we were scrambling for the first goal, 5 or 6 players absolutely threw themselves into challenges with full force and guess what? We scored.

I don't know the situation you're talking about tbf. But I've seen it many times including in today's game when he should have passed but either held onto the ball until Liverpool were back into shape or as you say pass back. I don't think that is just on TF. Because Bergvall tries to release much more quickly. Xavi too except Xavi isn't yet confident enough to do it more.

On the way back from the game. I've witnessed some tinkle poor performances this season but that wasn't one of them.
Felt we were more than matching them, even with 10 up until Romero's all too common lazy pass put us in the brick. Xavi's red was clumsy but not malicious, looked like he was trying to press and harry VDV and just misjudged his stride. Felt there 2nd could easily have been chalked off, was there even a review? Richie and Odobert really gave us impetus and the equaliser was there for us. Then Romero stepped up with an act of total stupidity to end the game. He should be stripped of the captaincy/dropped until he finds his brain.

This one is way worse for me, clear deliberate downward force and no attempt for the ball.

The sick thing about that is the ref doesn't give it, same as tonight, but var does.
You can understand the ref, there is absolutely no excuse for var.
