What would YOUR priority signing be in the Jan transfer window?

Semenyo would be absolutely awesome for us, surely we have to be at least in for him early in Jan

Even with a new contract he's only on £100k max per week. So much scope to make him an attractive offer. We may not win the race but we surely need to be in it.

When I look around the Prem I see players like Semenyo, Rogers, Andersen, Wharton etc who are part of good clubs but not the biggest clubs. We need to prove to ourselves that we can get this level of quality consistently through the door.

City and Liverpool can't sign every player out there

We’re crying out for players who are worth paying the money to go and see

Till he tells us he's a massive Arsenal fan and he's been offered twice the salary we have but at least 5 other clubs. Kudus being his pal is about the only card we have at the moment.

I also worry he's having a purple patch that he won't be able to replicate in our environment and expect more dribbles past 5 players before misplacing the ball out of play for a goal kick lol

I believe he's one of the players in the league that takes the most shots from distance. Enough of them go in and you get the Coutinho effect, where people see highlights and think he's a great player.

That's definitely a thing that can happen. Though I also think Coutinho was an excellent player for a while there.

To me Semenyo seems to have a lot about him. Physical attributes, dribbling, ball striking all at very high levels. While also being able to put that together for real end product.

My main concern would be how good he would be for a team less focused on transition play and outside the rather specific structure and style of play at Bournemouth. But looking at what he's good at he seems to he good at several different things so think that should translate well. And quite a few of the things he's good at are things we need, not just the goals.

True; sometimes it does feel like THE BIG FIVE buy alllll the players, but they can't sign them all from England and from Europe and from the rest of the world so there are plenty of options for Spurs to snap up.

For instance, I was watching England youth earlier. They played thrice! And the score was 4-0 every time!!

The U21s have some really special talents, gliding around, beating men with ease, getting off good shots etc.
They won 4-0.
Lots of those players may not fully break through at their clubs, so we could keep an eye on them.
Even if they are at Cheatski/City, those teams may sell them to raise funds.
Having said that, I'm not sure any would immediately dramatically improve us, just idle thoughts really.

In the U21s there was Mubama up top with Gittens Nwaneri George Bellingham Peck Lewis Alleyne Acheampong NortonCuffey

I also watched the U17s lose 4-0 to an impressively drilled Austria team. U17s were
Heskey Rodrigues Burrows WilliamsBarnett Miles Ridgeon etc

I did not watch the U19s which was mysteriously hidden on FotMob and most other places??
They beat Scotland 4-0 with Derry Sidibe Amissah Dowman Amass Rigg Mukasa Mheuka Nyoni Mfuni with other big talents coming on like Monga and Ngumoha. Not sure where Mikey Moore was in all this?

Anyway, the point is, THE BIG FIVE can't hoover up everyone. We have a small car vac, we can try to hoover up some crumbs :D

Edit - I suppose one point to bear in mind is that we are excited about Moore and LWB but there are sooo many big talents in England right now. It's not like those guys will break through and take us a step above all these other talents.

Excellent points and post.

We have a smaller vacuum, we have to try to do better than clubs with more money and who are themselves mostly being run well these days.

I want us to have a real focus on developing young players and giving thru best of them at least a reasonable path to first team football. Become a place that super talented young players will see as a really good place to come and stay. We've managed to attract players like Bergvall and Vuskovic in recent years so obviously not doing badly in that regard, but probably still room for improvement.

We also have to instill, or keep instilling, a real attitude of professionalism and development within the club. Training, development mentality, helping players reach their potential as well as we can and a huge aspect of that is mentality both on and off the pitch. I think that happens best in an environment that expects, demands and supports that. Both in the first team and the youth sides. But the first team has to be the role models and standard setters in that regard.

All of this to say a complete non negotiable in our transfer strategy must be a high level of professionalism and attitude towards training and development. The only way to really foster that environment is with everyone on board.

Seems like every black English footballer is an Arsenal fan. I do fear it’d be the same scenario as Eze where we bid for him then Arsenal gazump us.

It’s legacy
Ian wright was an icon
Before him there was Davis and Rocastle
Henry too
I think also Arsenal's fanbase skews more (racially diverse) inner London, whereas we've always been more home counties.

Also our traditional scouting areas mirrored the above, which meant we've had less black British academy graduates (King and Campbell being exceptions), which feeds into your point

More black and Jamaican there where we are on the direct line to Stamford Hill Jews, Turkish and Cypriots
