Romero to an advanced Sarr seemed like a dedicated out ball for us. It’s risky because that’s a lot of distance, but I don’t blame Romero for not hitting it every time. It’s a hard thing to do, but the rewards of moving us forward are great if it completes.
Far from a great performance but the table shows 3 points and a +1 GD so I’ll take that for our first CL game of the campaign. The most bizarre goal - I need to watch it back to understand how it actually went into the net!
Certainly more work for TF and the coaching team but we’ll get there.
Yes I was saying the same at half time. Except I don’t think you could even plan for that to happen.Looked like something Grobbelaar would’ve done!
Bentancur is not Argentinian. You singled out Romero and Bentancur on page 21: "Today only the Argies looked comfortable in possession - Romera and Bentancur" and on page 22 Steff said Romero looked too comfortable and you doubled down and said Romero only made one bad pass in the second half and some people disagreed.Im lost. Thank you for paying attentionI did. But whats your point?

South Americans my bad. Still lost. Yes I thought they were more comfortable on the ball, at least first half. Second half the confidence dropped after the flurry of missed passes, and we never regained control. First half I thought we actually did well playing out at times. Much more to come of course: both playing through a press (something we did better today first half) and playing on the break (that we were woeful at second half). When trying to play longer passes to break fast isn't working, I'd like to see us adapt so we can gain control again with some shorter balls. ButFrank clearly has a vision, and playing on the break is a key thing. So there will be a period of adapting and improving how we break, we're not in sync yet.Bentancur is not Argentinian. Then you said it wasn't fair to single out Romero, so I said that it was you that singled him out in the first place.
You obviously didn't give the game much attention. Bentancur was one of our best. Low bar today, but still. Showed composure when we needed it. Had a terrible period the first 25 minutes of the 2nd half, but so did everyone else. Once Palhinha came on, they controlled midfield much better.Had it on whilst working so didn't catch it all
Seemed a meh game
Bent seemed to have a stinker, not sure we should be renewing his contract, seems to struggle when stepping up since the injury
Goals, Baleforce hates any game with any result other than a 1 nil.I saw it was 4-4. What did we miss?
nope, I'm fudging loving it
I'll take that every week, forcing a mistake, our keeper not making a save
tonight was wonderful, my heart rate didn't change at all
one of the greatest ever![]()
Pragmatism was City away and PSG. We played pragmatic and we did it well. This match was anything but. It's still early days, though, so at least getting a result in spite of a poor performance will keep the spirits high. But we do need to improve. We have way too much talent to be playing the way we did against Villarreal. If only we'd have played well and lost I could die happy in the knowledge nothing change at this club, the fans always have something to moan about.
Only a short time ago I was reading how we wanted pragmatism and clean sheets, its results business.
Is the honeymoon over?
This. The attempted clearance/pass that ended with the shot for Pepe (tried a looping pass, but underhit it) was imo the only bad one from him. Uncharacteristically rushed and lacking in compusure.Romero to an advanced Sarr seemed like a dedicated out ball for us. With this level of performance results won't be sustainable at the level we want/need.nope, I'm fudging loving it

Hoping for an improvement in performance levels against Brighton. I think this team and Frank are very much capable of that. That calamity of a goal set the standard for the match nicely. Ref was awful, and awful for both teams. There's absolutely no way there was 8 yellow cards in that match. He then bottled giving Xavi a second yellow (not that I think either of his fouls were yellows, but it was worse than some of the challenges the ref did give them for.)
Weird night. Brighton away will be very difficult on current form. A pragmatic win there would be nice, then look to really improve the performance against Doncaster and Wolves.

Early days, inconsistency isn't a surprise.
4 changes should do it. Palhinha in for Bergvall or Sarr. Udogie for Spence, Johnson for Kudus, Kulo Muani for Richy.I'd obviously love to go there and win comfortably, but I don't see it -- especially as a number of our key players have played close to 180 minutes this week. I thought we needed earlier subs last night. I'd expect a bit more rotation vs Brighton, which could lead to another disjointed performance.
