Savinho

That's the spirit :D...

I’m looking forward to some posting on here should we not get Savinho either:

“He wouldn’t have fitted into a Frank team anyway. We probably only put the offer in to let Villa think we had an option other than Ross Barkley when it was clear that’s who we were after all along. Villa won’t be able to cope without him. Outstanding that we got him for £3 million to be paid over 25 years, with us getting two bags of training balls and a set of cones from Villa should he make more than 30 appearances for us. ” 😃

Pay over the top for an overrated player?
Or don't get a player the team needs and thus fail to achieve your goals and I stead stagnate.

I find the copium in our fan base incredibly refreshing. It doesn't matter happens always find a way to make it feel better.

If we sign a player he's amazing and if we don't we were never interested, he's not that good, we don't need him anyway, we'll find better, he was too expensive etc etc etc. the way these goal posts move is just something to behold

No goal posts being moved its my genuine opinion, i don’t rate him as a £70m. He cost £30m a year a go and has scored 1 goal.

You know why he cost £30m though right? He was rated as £50m buy last year I know this because as I mentioned before he was someone I was paying a lot of attention to, but anywhere the team he came from (Girona) are part of the City group so he was transferred internally for a much cheaper price than he was otherwise rated at. City even had to get UEFA approval for the price as there was some debate about "market rates" when it comes to inter group transfers.

He was basically never a £30m signing. Btw yes 1 goal but 10 assists (he is a winger after all) and lots of participation in the buildup then led to chances. Yes his finishing should have been better but all of that was on the wrong side. He's always played on the left and that why City brought him in but they then moved him to the right so it's not surprising his goal numbers dropped in an unsuited and new position for him. I suggest you actually watch the player than than making these half baked assesments.

I do enjoy a good huff of copium but if we don't get Savinho or a similar player, I'll not be trying to kid myself.

So because you have been watching him closely and you clearly have a hard on for signing him i am not allowed to have my own opinion? Sorry didn’t realise this, i will make sure i want to sign every player you do in future to keep you happy.

The new one is - he has no sell on value. Like we as fans should give a brick about that. Levy's mentality has got so ingrained in the fan base that some cheer his penny pinching and ability to turn a profit.

We got some money for Davinson Sanchez in the end so I guess that was a successful transfer. Only took us about four seasons trying to sell him and keeping him around not quite being good enough. That undermined the first team and so will all the other players we sign who aren't quite at it.

I'd rather pay money for actuality than potential. That Kudus will be cheaper than Savinho is the other way round. And wanting this sell on value means haggling for a week over Eze, whilst Arsenal come in and meet Palace's requirements.

It is objectively better for us as a club to spend £70m on a player that could be performing well with us for 4-5 years (and have a chance of reaching the top, top level), than spending £70m on a player who will be 29 in less than 2 years and past his peak.

When we only have the budget for X amount of players per year it’s not penny pinching to want to get a few years out of a £70m signing…

I’m happy this fell through, BUT only if we buy Savinho or someone of equal calibur and a #10

You don't know when a player's peak is really. Look at Modric - you could have bought him at 30 and had 5 or more years of top performances out of him.

There is a sizable risk that the 4-5 years player won't reach the required standard which is why I prefer actuality as in the case of someone like Eze. We have more than enough potential in the squad and I'm excited by it. When you have three or four good potentials in the same position in a squad you start accumulating excess wages again and styming the growth of the players. The budget and the penny pinching are pretty much synonymous here and anyway those savings don't necessarily get reinvested in the squad.
