***OMT*** Tottenham Hotspur v Man Utd*** Europa League Final Wednesday May 21st, KO 8pm

Stupid decision to start him Sunday.

One of the main players we couldn't risk
I totally agree. I wanted all eleven rested and wasn't happy seeing Bentancur or Bissouma playing.
But people on various chat forums were moaning they'd paid good money for a ticket and wanted a strong team and didn't want to finish 17th.
Damned if you do , damned if you don't.

If there is any upside to this downside, it is that we are now certain Deki is not fit, and thus we have to find otrher ways to get things done. I suspect he was not quite back to full match-fitness therefore the thought was to get a little more time in his legs. Imagine if he'd have started next Wednesday and been injured within the first 15-20 of that match? I know this is stretching silver linings, but I can't soak in the puddle of brick that our injuries have been this season any more. Here's to LUCAS making his way from the bench for 45 mins!

The annoying thing about Deki being out (besides the obvious) is that there’s no chance we will be trying out whoever replaces him for the final against Villa.

I wouldn’t be against Biss-Bentancur double pivot with Sarr in front of them. I know it’s lacking in creativity but we can definitely out-work their midfield. Bring Odobert on to play there in the 2nd half as I believe he played there for Burnley on occasion?

Whoever it ends up being, it’s just another aspect of this being a fairytale end to a nightmare season. Even without Deki we can beat these and beat them convincingly

That's the spirit!

The positive is that we have no idea how we will setup without Deki and neither will they. We still have options for sure, Amorim can only guess who we choose to go with....

I know this won’t happen and probably shouldn’t happen either, but purely hypothetically… if Orient went out tonight is Donley eligible?

Edit: just seen this was covered on the previous page.

My gamble?
Biss/Bents with Porro...Spence at RB...gets a proper creative closer to the action without scarificing defensive shape, providing we do what we've done the last two EL rounds and sit the FBs a little deeper...

Gonna necessitate a system change.

I’d be tempted to go 442 with Richie and Solanke up front, Tel and Odobert on the wings, Bents and Biss as two holders and just bang it forward at every opportunity.

The more of the ball United have in their own half the more chance we have.

I honestly do not know what I would do. I think I would allocate a man to mark Fernandes - perhaps Sarr - neutralise the game and duke it out on set pieces and invoke Lady Luck.

But it’s not sexy enough and we will do something mental instead.

With no creative midfielders we'll just have to lump it onto Richie's or Solanke's head at every opportunity. I like it, could be a reversion to football of old with 5 at the front...no fannying around playing out from the back, just launch every ball forward to cut the midfield out completely. If we win, it will start a whole new trend in tactics :)
might be beneficial to have a more solid centre midfield and just go down the wings and lump it. like us man u has no shortage of runners from the midfield

I'm not talking about Son individually but how the team has functioned with/without him - as someone else mentioned Son often gets doubled up on, has that doubling up on maybe created space in which our attacking play has seen a better return? Would need to look in to it but like I say certainly feels to me that we are looking a lot worse attack wise these past few weeks
i don't have access to stats and i won't be spending a few hours on analyzing so i used Opera AI - don't ask if its reliable or not, it fits my view of Son's impact and that is enough for me

Question: in the english premier league can you list all the games that Son Heung Min has started or played in and his effect on the results of the games - win, lose or draw percentages.

Wow! I love Sonny but that's amazing! We've only won 11 games in the Premier League this season, yet somehow he's played in 18 wins??

18 wins, 8 draws and 3 losses would have us on 62 points after 29 games and possibly in reach of winning the league. Good ol' AI
