Mauricio Pochettino

For all the re-evaluation people give Poch these days, it has to be said we still seem incapable of reaching the heights he took us to, despite (supposedly) having more resources.

I'm not saying people should still be singing his name at games, but I think much more respect needs to be given when speaking about him and his time here. And i'm one that raised flaws/issues that i saw at the time (and i got pelters at times for doing so).

He had the best first team we have assembled in decades mate.

We will likely build a better team in next couple of years but a lot of that depends on how some of our current players step up and how we replace Son/Kane in long term.

Very much a right man, right place, right time for us, my but has always been
- He did really well for us, with a very good side
- He built on an upwards trend the club had been on for some time (BMJ/Harry)
- His limitations with us and post us have been proven
- His time ultimately has led us to a huge rebuild and it's taken a long time to get there (a lot of that is on the club itself)
- My biggest beef with him is in the end, he did the Conte thing, waited to be fired, both knew they were done/burnt out. Poch leaving that summer after the final, he would be seen how some people perceive.

He's was not the messiah, had he converted a few of those "almost", it would be a very different story, but that's Spurs

Offered in the spirit of discussion and debate...

I think you've offered a fine example of how some folks under-appreciated his work here .

As for your biggest beef, you under-estimate the power of Daniel when he wants something. It would've been easy, given how things we on a knife-edge anyway; don't buy N'dombele early. Had he not done that, fans (like me!) would've complained, Poch would've negotiated an exit with him, and it would've been done. Instead, Daniel decided to back him. And having backed him with one player, held off on Lo Celso until late in the window, and then went on to not back him after all.

I disagree with that last statement, as in realtime he most certainly WAS a messiah to many. He unified a club which had struggled to maintain any identity, brought pride and passion back, established a philosophy, and achieved the jedi-trick of making us feel like a family whilst operating like a massive club. Whether history shows him as one or not depends on your definition of history; the ride I was on at that time, the magical moments I experienced in stadiums all over, yeah mate, he was a messiah.

I’ll preface this by saying I haven’t watched the video and only seen the quotes so maybe I’m missing context or intent…

I love Poch and I want Ange out. I’d take Poch back in a heartbeat. But these comments…feel a little bit opportunistic to me. With Ange under so much pressure, Poch must know how this will be perceived. Shouldn’t really be effectively talking about another man’s job especially when that man is struggling.

Watch the video Deano. It's a 15 min video talking mostly about the USA job. He spends 2 minutes answering a question about Spurs (he didn't solicit the question). Essentially he says he would love to go back one day he's thought about that since he left and would like to arrive in the situation that we were in but have a different outcome.

Bearing in mind English is not his first language I read his comments as he loves the club and regrets he didn't take the club all the way to a trophy.

They were not undermining Ange in any way and I doubt it would bother Ange one bit. It's just the internet trying to create a negative story where there isn't one (as usual).

That may be a fair perspective but it does seem quotes directly from him seem to surface anytime another manager is under pressure at Spurs (and it may be led by questioning, I don't think he shuts it down in a way that suggests 100% innocence)

He was asked a question. He answered it. He has been saying the same since he was booted. It is well-known. He is always careful to say 'one day' and that IMO is because certain things would have to be different with regards to our operations.

I find peoples Poch reimagining funny TBH. I think he should have won something and I would say it was a failure in some part not to, I say that with a silent fail haha. But over his time with us he built something that in the context of Spurs which was pretty pretty special and pushed us into a week in week out consistency of footballing levels I had not see with us for over 30 years. And it wasn't just a case of him taking over a team of talent and getting it to click, he did alot to that side to get it motoring. I say it all the time about him, but there was never a time in my supporting history, even really with Redknapp where I thought "we have a very good chance of winning today" against absolutely everyone, event the biggest sides in the PL where previously I would wanna watch through split fingers

Interestingly, I didn't know the role of Poch's son.

Sebastiano, who has dual Spanish and Argentinian citizenship, specialises in injury prevention and strength and conditioning.

He started working for Tottenham as a sport science assistant in 2016 after graduating just months before.

After building up experience and impressing a number of key figures behind the scenes, Sebastiano was then promoted to the role of first team fitness coach and sport scientist in 2017.

Aged just 22 at the time, this saw him become the youngest sport scientist anywhere in the Premier League.

His role saw him become a prominent figure in training and he sat in the Spurs dugout on match days.

Sebastiano then followed his father to PSG as a fitness coach when he was appointed manager in 2021.

Pochettino said of Sebastiano when he was at Spurs in 2017: ‘He loves Tottenham and all the players because he has a very good relationship with them.

Sebastiano is now 30 and follows his dad around along with Jesus Perez, Toni Jimenez and Miguel D’Agostino.

With our injury record, he could be a good signing.

Supposedly taken today in Hadley Wood, according to Coys Reddit.

Doesn’t really look like Levy though does it? Loos like he has a bit of hair back there.

False alarm!

Given that USA have a nations league semi final against Panama in LA Thursday evening, you'd think he'd be somewhere else right now doing his job.

Always got time for a little chat-up with his mate Daniel! Haha, we all like to dream this little nightmare of our's away, I suppose.

To be honest though, if he did come back he would have a tough time again I think. We have no where near as good a team as we do as when he last had two top CBs, one decent RB, quality midfield ie Eriksen, Sissoko, Dele and a peak Son and Kane. We had some great players there and a great first 11. Nowadays we have a much worse / ok 11 and admittedly larger squad but first 11 is no where near as good as prime Poch, Spurs. Not a lot of world class talent in it at all.

The only thing one can say with certainty about that picture, is that it's taken some time after September 2022. The restaurant where it's taken is Limes Coffee Hadley Wood, and if you go too Google street view, that place was called Paninis in the most recent Google street view, which is from September 2022.
The menu visible, has the same layout as pictures taken at that restaurant 6 months ago, and based on the shadows, the picture is taken at approximately 11am, and not on a Tuesday.
That's it for my detective work.

Yeah, I read that too, on Reddit. It's an old photo allright, but I reckon there's a decent chance we will bring him back.

Yeah, looks like they took over the property in May and opened it up in September.
