World Cup 2018: That other game

Hmmm, so this is what occurred in the Italia 90 third place playoff o_O don’t think I’ll bother watching this one either... although, perhaps Pochettino will be interested to see how his 8 Tottenham boys do...

 
Traditionally the 3rd/4th place match is hated by the teams playing in them especially as they have just lost the semi finals. But these 3rd/4th place matches had been more entertaining than the last few Finals. Belgium and England have never finished in 3rd place. So both should put some effort to try to finish in 3rd place for the first time ever.

Belgium lost 4-2 to France in the 1986 3rd/4th place match. England lost 2-1 to Italy in the 1990 3rd/4th place match. Italy's Schillaci actually scored his 6th goal in that match to become the top scorer of the 1990 World Cup. Want Kane to play and score at least 1 goal to confirm his place as the top scorer of this World Cup. It will be even better if Kane can score 2 goals and equal the 8 goals scored by Ronaldo in 2002. As for Belgium, just can't see Lukaku scoring any goals as he has been very poor after scoring 4 goals in his first 2 matches of this World Cup. Wish Vertonghen and Alderweireld can play in this match as they might be too old for the next World Cup.

A total of 161 goals have been scored so far, which is the same as in 2002. But that is still far too behind the 171 goals scored in 1998 and 2014. Can't see many goals scored in the Final. So, hope England and Belgium can entertain us with many goals. A 3-2, 4-3 or 5-4 scoreline will be a welcome treat. Let's hope England and Belgium will turn up with the right team and mentality for this match.

Quite surprised at the strength of the 2 teams.Not many changes at all. Now he is playing Harry may as well go and try and wrap up the Golden Boot
 
They’re obviously going for it by starting Lukaku, Southgate had to cover it off.

Shame for the squad players who have barely featured though, this really should be a throw away game.
 
I know its billed as a nothing game,but they are wearing an England shirt, at least some of them could look like they give a sh#t
