Is Russia v Saudi Arabia the worst game to ever start a World Cup with? I bet it's nil nil too.

So, the much awaited World Cup is starting today with Russia playing against Saudi Arabia.

Russia is under pressure to get a good result in the first match. But their team is so weak that they are the lowest ranked team in this World Cup. Russian teams have always been let down by lack of discipline. They should have appointed a big-name coach to lead them like how Hiddink guided them to the Euro 2008 semi finals. Russia badly need a good performance and result against Saudi Arabia to not only improve their chance to progress to the Second Round but to make their fans happy as well.

Don't worry Russian players blood has just been replaced with x-men chemicals.

I'm so glad I'm not watching the build up and the ceremony. I'd rather sit here and be bored for the next twenty minutes.

Had to go back to non HD ITV, their picture is awful as usual.

I hope the tournament is better than the ceremony, terrible. Why get Robbie Williams? Surely there must be something a bit more Russian or modern to showcase. There's probably a billion people watching.

The linesmen have apparently been asked not to flag for close calls and let VAR deal with it afterwards instead.

Loved the opening ceremony. Short and sweet, some fit Russian dancers, bit of Robbie belting out 3 hits. Can't complain tbh.
