Victimpool FC - Klopp leaving, grown men crying

Pep has far to much respect for Barca to tell them he is going on a break and then sign for another club. He has still got the cup final before he leaves anyway.

Not going to happen 100%

Another Fergie minion taking his steps towards managerial glory

Surely this must be some kind a record for most players under certain manager becoming gaffers themselves?

Unlike most of them, this guy actually seems to have a bit of a talent when it comes to managing.

It is the man-management.

I have a theory that the only conceivable explanation for Wigan's great escapes the last two seasons is the manager. They are a crappy little club who get beaten up all season, but then, right at the end when they really need to, they pull it out of the fire. I'm not sure how that could be down to anything other than the manager getting it out of them. For the dressing room still to be responding to him 30 games into the season - two seasons in a row - is amazing. It must mean that even while they're getting spanked all through the miserable Winter, they still trudge back to the dressing room and listen to what Martinez is saying. If that theory is right, it suggests a devotion that is similar to that shown towards Jose.

Both Jose and Martinez also seem to put out very balanced and well-drilled sides. The main difference being that Martinez's football is far nicer to look at.

Nice theory.

One thing that strikes me about Mourinho, and indeed all very successful football people, is that they are driven to win above everything else. And I don't mean just a winning mentality. I mean an a innate hunger to win which transcends the basic desire to succeed.

I see it in everything Mourinho does. Everything is designed to gain advantage, even crazy things like the eye gouge incident. For me that was all about upsetting the Barca coaching staff (and also hilarious as well). Someone like Roy Keane has the same desire that can make a team win by sheer force of his personality alone.

Martinez and Mourinho may have similar traits but Martinez is not a winner in my eyes. Too nice.

but you wouldnt class any of them as a success would you?

i wouldnt say Steve Bruce, Paul Ince, Roy Keane etc. were succesful in any way.

Brendan Rodgers - the manager of Swansea City - turns down Liverpool; he doesn't even want to speak to them!

Oh how the 'mighty' have fallen

:ross::ross::ross::ross:

Laughed off the idea of the Chelsea job earlier in the season too, said something to the effect "Why? Im trying to build a career..." Has his head screwed on well IMO, smart manager.

Rodgers is a bit up himself. Needs brought down a peg or two. 2nd year in the premiership should do that, but I'd prefer to slap him in the face.

Agreed,

If he gets relegated with his nothing side next season, he'd be kicking himself for not listening to what one of the biggest clubs in England had to offer.

Are you suggesting Rodgers was offered the Chelsea job in the summer?

No, try reading what is written instead of what you think I think.

"Laughed off the idea of the Chelsea job earlier in the season"

As I recall when AVB was sacked the question was put to Rodgers by a journalist (obvious link being Rodgers spent time at Chelsea under Mourinho) and that was his response

Up himself for not joining the managerial merry go round. Once you been through enough clubs you'll never be short of job offers.
