The End Of Programmes?

Well if the go the way of the Dodo then it make make my collection worth more. In my loft i have boxes full of them ( my oldest is a England v Brasil one dated 1958) most of them are Spurs but i have many from other clubs and they are all in good condition.

Ka-ching!

Think the key word is mandatory. For some of the smaller clubs that can get advertising for the programme then it is probably a burden they can do without. But the will always be a market for it at championship and above. I can remember when you used to get a sheet of paper from the news stand at the station after the game that told you the scores in all the other matches.

The programme is one of the benefits of the 1882 season ticket, so ours won't be going anywhere.

The mandatory thing is weird and should rightly be abolished. A digital one sent by e-mail would be something most clubs could manage.

Not surprised, an out dated relic to the times when people use to read about the club and opponents before game and talk to other fans at matches, now the brain dead are attached to their "machines" and can live in their bubble and improve their "non people skills" plus find out how much weight Tracey has lost this week or how much fun cats have.

I used to buy programmes so I could read them at HT to stop people talking to me.

I'd still buy Spurs Monthly/Hotspur magazine if it existed, but I never go to the OS or read club emails unless its about tickets. I much prefer the deeper diving of 80-100 pages of proper prose

With the revenge of analogue/delayed gratification movement, I don't think the demise of programmes is by any means a certainty

I lost a lot of my programmes when water pipe burst in my loft, its interesting to see the way they have evolved over the years, I find they are far too gushing about our players, but I do like to see more in depth articles about the club in the community, as I feel London clubs are losing touch with the locals.

spot on

I think that ship sailed at the end of 80's in top devisions

I can still see a place for Programmes - I feel you can fit more adverts and messages from sponsors in programmes, plus benefits like having your birthday in them and it's a keepsake from your day out at the lane.

Maybe there'll be more content in the future with QR codes, or Virtual Reality stuff after pointing your phone at a page.

thats very odd programmes were mandatory, that must have been a "loss leader" for virtually every club in the last 5 years, make it an app and everyone goes home happy.
