Now im going to nail my flag to the mast on this one, I was all for loaning him out, saving some cash on his wages as I never saw him getting in our side. Even a few weeks back i was happy that he was doing a bit up at Everton in the hope they might shell out some cash for him in the summer.

But seeing him get three assists today, one last week and a goal against Man Yoo I have to ask myself why it never worked out for him here. Do we just not play to his strengths, did we or harry not give him a real chance? I just dont know. What im pretty sure about at the moment is that i would not mind having his workrate, desire and craft in our side the last few games when so many have gone missing.

He obviously works well in Evertons system where he plays of the main Striker, does a lot of leg work but he also has the craft to open up some opportunities and to finish. Can we not use that in our team?

I know its stated that Harry wanted him to stay but let him go, but its our club. surely if he wanted him to stay he should have just said no to the loan.

I just want some opinions on why people think it has not worked for him here so far. Will it change if we get a new manager? or will we never see him in a Spurs Shirt again?
 
I was a perplexed more than happy when we first signed him. Always thought he was a good little player and we got him for a cheap price (wages not so cheap mind) but I just couldn't really see where he would fit in our side.

He never really had much of a chance at Spurs either by Harry or the fans. Never had a steady run in the team due to selection/injuries and the crowd never took to him.

I wasn't too concerned about sending him on loan, thought he'd be handy as cover if the worst was to happen (felt the same way with Bassong). I'm not surprised he's been a success again at Everton but at the same time I'm not disappointed that we loaned him out.

He's a good player but I don't think he's a Spurs player. That's not intended to sound arrogant or dismissive towards Pienaar but I just can't picture him recreating his form with Everton in a Tottenham shirt.
 
We will never know if he would have influenced our end of season, I dont think Redknap would have started him perhaps brought him off the bench a few times, I would like him to be with us at the start of next season.
 
Hypothectically (if all were fit and available), would this have worked?

For Everton he plays left of a 5 man midfield and cuts inside all the time. The only way to make that work for us is if we did the same and stuck Bale at left back or right wing.
 
Bale should have been moved back weeks ago; the left back we use isn't that good, and Bale needs to be forced into a more diciplined and leftside focus, and coming from deep he would get into a lot of good attacking positions - more so than what we've seen for some weeks.
Pieanaar would've been a great option in front of Bale; would not be that different from the Baines-combo.
 
He gets alot more space when he is playing for Everton because nobody parks the bus against them.He also has all the freedom in the world,considering they play 4-4-1-1 with Fellaini/Cahill as supporting striker and these two always track back.He is currently on top form and doing similar things that Modric and Kranjcar did for us when they played LM.More similar to Modric tho,Kranjcar is slower but has a way better shot.

I dont think he would have changed our season in any way,not because he doesnt have the quality,but simply because Harry would never play him.We all know Harry's subs,at 60 mins Defoe comes on,at 75 Saha and than maybe 85/90 mins sub would be Pienaar.
 
I was against Pienaar loan move. It made absolutely zero sense. He was involved a fair bit last year and then was injured for a large part this season. So we haven't really seen what he can do yet.

If he had been here for the past few months, what games would he have played in?
 
Pienaar was not playing well with us, wither it be the new club he souldnt settle with, confidence or whatever the reason he is nothing like the player he is at Everton. As soon as he went back there he showed people just how good he really is. Shame he didnt have that spark while playing with us.

But playing devils advocate here, maybe he needed a run of games and no injuries to get a spark, get some form and show us what he could do. I agree with the earlier comments that having Bale in front of him basically kept him out of the team. But that is what Squad Rotation is for and not just in the Cup games.

Harry talks about amount of games, but maybe thats not the most important thing. Its about freshness at the right times of the season.

If we get a new Manager in the summer, I would not mind to see him get another chance with us. Especially if we are going to get the Usual drawn out "we have no money" kind of transfer that always goes with Everton these days.

I am with you on this. I was thinking the same thing. I was actually thinking of starting a similar thread because I fear I may got this one complete wrong. He looks a different player back at Everton. Was it a case of Harry signing him and then not playing him in his right position or was he simply not played in his right position? I really do not know the answer, but looking at how Modric has being playing recently I must admit another option in central midfield seems really appearing right now.
 
We need a left sided player as our one currently thinks he is Ronaldo..

If Moyes becomes the new manager he will defo get the best from Pienaar
 
Spooky has some ITK on Pienaar, if you listen to the Fighting **** podcast - apparently he was signed by Levy, rather than Redknapp, and within a few weeks of signing Pienaar was on the phone to Bill Kenwright begging him to take him back to Everton.
