Sleep problems

Cundies undies

Roger Nilsen
I've had sleep issues for years, in the last few weeks it's gotten really bad, like I'll be dead on my feet but unable to drift of.

The strangest thing is though, I've noticed if I have a cup of tea, not decaf stuff, I'll either nod off in 20-30 mins, or go out like a light if I'm knackered.

Anyone else experienced this sort of thing? or have any clue wtf is going on with me? Truly driving me nuts.

Drink more tea hahah

I had the same for a while so I cut caffeine out midday and also anything really sugar heavy later in the day and that helped me

You tried things like background noise like falling asleep with TV on or something? Might not make you popular but might help

if tea works then unless there's a reason not to drink it just before sleep then do that!

my brother had similar for years - either couldn't get to sleep or would wake up 2/3 am and not get back to sleep. He went to see a sleep specialist which helped him a lot, basically got him to cut various things out of his life which enabled better sleep and then slowly reintroduce them one by one to work out what was the cause of the issue. You could always try that if the problem persists - he went private but if thats not an option then a doctor would refer you if it was causing issues when you are awake

I've tried a load of "relaxing sounds to sleep too", raindrops on a tent or waves etc. All it does is make me want to buy new camping gear or book a holiday, which Ironically gets me thinking about where/cost and I end up checking prices and brick online :D

Think I'll do as suggested and drink tea before bed, maybe book a GP appointment or something.

Have you tried the "military sleep thing"?

I find ambient music helps, like Brian ENo music for airports or Bing and Ruth Tomorrow was the golden age. There are loads of 'sleep playlists' online, look for the ambient music ones. Failing that antihistamine helps me.

Good luck

I'll have to give that try, I've got a lavender/eucalyptus spray for the pillows, doesn't really seem to work tbh.

The cup of tea before bed got me about 3 hours kip, huge improvement even if it is odd sounding.

Check your mattress. Have you got one of those foam lined ones- they can cause overheating - or it could be upside down or whatever.

Have you tried reading a book, if I'm tired then usually a few pages in I'm dropping the book on my head and falling asleep. If nothing else reading is a nice hobby.

So true....and so frustrating...I like to read but at bedtime I want to churn out a good few pages...2-3 pages in I'm struggling to keep the eyes open :)

I'm practically the opposite, always found reading keeps me awake far longer than I would like, even if it's something really dry like a tech manual or a spreadsheet that's totally unconnected to anything in my life, I'll keep reading the bloody thing lmao
