Lest we forget...

The one day of the year I am happy and proud to wear red.

Let us never, ever forget. And never let the enormity of what these heroes did for us, our families, our friends, the world we live in, be ever diluted or ignored.

Because of them we can now live the lives we have.

Forever in my thoughts and prayers, true heroes and legends.

All of the WWI veterans have died now right?

Will be a sad day when the same happens for the WWII ones.

I like I'm sure many others care about today just chose not to reply on a forum thread and instead did my own thing to remember. Our local parade was rammed loads of people still loads who care about today all ages

just beacuase I don't post on a forum does not mean I do not care....

Always remeber, always be thankful for thier sacrifice... they are all Heroes

I love football on the whole, but yesterday highlighted to me how crass and disrespectful some footballers can be! I coach junior rugby on a Sunday morning in Hungerford which is one of the highlights of my week. Hungerford is a growing club, and we now have three pitches on the municipal playing field, with 2 pitches given over to football, where Wickham Wanderers play matches on a Sunday morning. Yesterday, all the rugby activity was halted at a few minutes to eleven, and approximately 200 children and spectators gathered around the main rugby pitch for two minutes silence.

The footballer's unfortunately chose to continue playing on throughout the 2 minutes silence. Bunch of ****ers!

Remember Them
by D. Ross Campbell

They heard the call, they answered yes,
They proudly wore the battle dress,
For us who live they gave their all
That our great flag would never fall.

Let us this day remember all
Who answered yes, who heard the call,
Who gallantly opposed the foe:
On them let us our praise bestow.

They bravely died that we might live,
unselfishly their lives did give
For King and Country and all men,
That we might live in peace again.

Let us with praise these men salute,
Let peace and love be our pursuit,
Let's daily lead a life humane
That they will not have died in vain.

The problem is the time since such large Wars, when I was a child every adult I knew has been involved in WW2, now so few people know anyone involved in the recent conflicts and they don't touch us everyday, despite the threat of terrorism.

Not defending the football game, when I was a ref, I always did my 2 minutes silence pre kick off, because in the middle of a game it is very hard to stop it and do the silence. If they did not do this then that is bad form.

I reported the last team when the parents just chatted away whilst me and the players held the silence, also reprimanded the parents at full time.
