Last night in the Europa League, Rapid Vienna played away to Poak Saloniki. Before the game hundreds of Rapid fans were attacked on their way to the stdium, brutally though: not the pussy intimadation crap from behind a line of coppers like in England.

Before kick off hundreds of Greek fans invaded the pitch, ran unchallenged to the Rapid end and began throwing bricks, bottles and firing fireworks into the stand (there were obviously women an children in there).

The spectators were forced back into the stand and the game started and was played like nothing happened.

The history is the Rapid and Panathanaikos have a sort of Ultras bond - and therefore the POAK fans went mental.

There was more trouble outside the ground afterwards.

Lets wait and see what UEFA do to the Greeks. The total hypocrsy shown towards English football 'Hooligans' is really starting to get to me.

Some of things I've witnessed watching the Austrian Bundesliga, if they had happened in England, would have the authorities taking a pneumatic drill to the continental plate and attempting to push Britain off into the Atlantic.

Dont know if anyone is interested like but I thought I'd share it anyway. I might have a few pictures to post later if anyone is interested. All in all a pretty scary experience for anyone involved with Rapid last night.
 
Always a pity to see the club being fined and possibly kicked out of EL due to the actions of some mindless apes.

They must be prosecuted for criminal actions in front of a court, simple as
 
Is carrying on with the match in some way condoning their actions though? Sounds like PAOK haven't dealt with this at all, so a fine/ban would be justified. How is a pitch invasion being allowed to happen before a European game?
 
Peter Schöttel, Rapid manager, said that some players were in the dressing room bricking themselves, not particularly keen to play. Not the best preparation for the match, especially as they were underdogs anyway and qualification for the groups is crucial to their budgeting.

And that would be excusable or allowable in the UK? They deserve whatever UEFA throw at them.
 
the police must be in on this. the regulators should prosecute both the attackers and the failure of the security enforcers, both public and private.
 
I bring this up everytime a thread like this starts.

Having lived in Istanbul, I've experienced a few Galata-Fener derbies. It's not uncommon for GUNS to be in the stadium and shot repeatedly into the air. Violence is a common occurence, the police being big culprits of it outside the stadium.

It's a VERY regular occurence in Turkey. You'll never hear about it outside of the country though.

I've heard you can buy used mobile phones from geezers outside the stadium, as the security won't confiscate those, but may not have been in Turkey. Then you can throw them on the pitch.
 
You can throw what the fudge you want in Turkey. The Galata ultras calling card is to stab opposition thugs quite literally in the arsehole. Nice bunch.

Remember the story of Inter fans managing to 'smuggle' a scooter into the stands to throw into opposition fans below them...

edit - basically, the UK is one of the safest places to enjoy live football. And yet every major tournament there is an issue about how the 'English will behave'.

Fifa/Uefa = massive utter utter ****s.
 
What happened in the end with Levy and his stance against Sevilla's stewards/police force when loads of Spurs fans got the crap batoned out of them

PAOK Salonika and Rapid Vienna have been hit with suspended one-year bans by UEFA after crowd violence before their Europa League play-off match.

The Greeks won the first leg 2-1 after clashes between rival fans during the warm-up. The return leg is on Thursday in Austria and will now be played behind closed doors.

PAOK will have to play their next three European home matches behind closed doors and have been fined £120,000, while Rapid have been fined half that figure.

The one-year ban on the clubs is suspended for three years and allows the winner of the play-off to continue playing in this season's Europa League.

But both teams will be suspended immediately should any similar incidents occur within the three-year timeframe.

Several skirmishes ensued after dozens of PAOK supporters spilled onto the pitch at the Toumba Stadium in response to having flares thrown at them by Rapid fans.

PAOK spokesman Kiriakos Kiriakos said the club intendeds to appeal the decision in the coming days.
