We need to get a globally, well respected, good footballing manager right now. Someone like Xavi or Alonso. Otherwise we are going to have a mass exodus of our top players at the end of the season.

We may lose one or two big names anyway, but if we don't act now, we will lose more.

We are at the stage where we need to manage the Risk, of relegation and of losing quality players. Waiting till the summer is now too late.

We are in real trouble right now.

I'd suspect it's really one of two options

- If you could get Xabi now, go do it, and give him a 70M player in this window of his choice
- If not, get an interim, literally anyone and go for Poch in summer with the hope that his appointment will change the toxicity and give a reset

This isn't a leading question, I'm genuinely wondering as not really followed Xavi at all as manager - What has he done that makes him a top pick? He was at Barca for a bit and was hardly a surprise he got a tune out of them for a short time, and other than that managed in Saudi - What makes him such a good choice?

Nothing.

But we are probably (wrongly) thinking we weren't convinced by Enrique...and don't want to make the same mistake again.

I know the US probably won't go deep into the World Cup but its almost impossible to get knocked out at the group stage the way it's set up now!... so what would be the earliest we could get him? We can't really spend the next 6 months in limbo and then give him a week of preseason and expect miracles. I just don't see it happening.

Easy to do mate.

Sign a pre-agreement, bring across some of his coaching staff (Jesus?) for pre-season, get him to advise on a signing this window, plan what he needs to be in door early in summer.

At this rate, he'll have one fudging game a week anyway.

Who have you identified as our top players?

Didn't he leave Barca because they refused to spend big(ger) as well?

It's a good question.

I'd say the main positives are his status, reputation and footballing philosophy. He would lift spirits, improve the style of play and attract big players.

Coaching wise it's a risk. But he's also got a very similar profile to Enrique did prior to his move to PSG. And we all know how that turned out.
