71 goals in 136 internationals, breaking Gerd Müllers record of 68.

Appeared at 4 World Cups, played in 4 semi finals.

16 goals in 23 World Cup matches.

Only the 3rd player to score at 4 different World Cups, after Pele and Uwe Seeler.

Just 2 matches short of Matthäus's, who appeared at 5 World Cups, record number of appearances (25).

Great achievement. As Rio said yesterday just doesn't excite me, never has done. Modern day Gary Lineker, but very good at what he does.

Find it hard to accept Klose being mentioned above the real great players like Ronaldo, Gerd Muller, Just Fontaine and Pele. Klose was never a great player and will never will be. The only reason he has scored more goals than the others is because he has played in 4 WCs and is still playing until age 36.

Who cares?

Deserved.

There's greatness in working hard and staying fit for as long as he has. Been at a high level throughout his career. Doing it in the 50s or 60s is barely an achievement compared to succeeding in today's game. Fontaine scored all his goals in just one tournament.
