EU Mobile Roaming Charges to go!?

Yeah, Vodafone want 90 quid a month for their euro passport (unlimted roaming) add on thing. There's no way they should be able to charge that on top of the contracts people already have.

If you're abroad for a long time, surely there are other options like WiFi and Skype? The £3 extra is reasonable for a week or so.

Can't understand how the extra cost of calls can really be quantified though.

I was in Belgium for a week, I opted for £1/day internet with Orange which gave me 20mb of 3G access, and you didn't get charged if you didn't use anything

If you plan ahead it's pretty cheap.

20mb a day is nothing though, my emails would do that on their own without any browsing.

I don't get how they've got away with it for so long, if I can pay £15 a month for unlimited usage at home why does it cost hundreds or even thousands abroad? Scandalous.

I also think mobile operators would make more money if it was reasonable, I'd happily pay £5 for a weeks unlimited usage but I'm not paying £5 a day that 3 want to charge me so I find wifi hotspots whilst abroad which means they make nothing from me and I'm sure that most people feel the same.

The fact people pay £30-40 (steadily increasing..) a month for mobile phone contracts has to be one of the biggest modern rip-offs alive. You can barely ever get online quickly. The reception is woeful in large swatches of the country. They then offer 4G WOW. You don't get a guarantee of service or network just an excuse for them to charge you even more per month.
