Yes, so if we finally have a manager that manages to win us a trophy, it would seem folly to sack them no?

You think winning a tin pot is gonads, that is your prerogative. Personally I have loved seeing Spurs win every trophy we have won in my lifetime and I would happily sacrifice a finishing higher in the league to win a trophy every single season.

Question for you.... If us winning the Europa league makes it more likely that Ange keeps his job then would you rather we lost the final?
Question - would you sack Ange if we lose next Wednesday?

I would imagine clubs that sack managers who have just delivered their second trophy of any kind in 27 years and first european trophy for 41 years are pretty few and far between. I think we're already seen as a bit of a basket case in football circles (sacking a manager like Pochettino after all he had done, also sacking Mourinho to put Ryan Mason in place in the week leading up to a cup final) so I suppose sacking a manager who had just delivered the clubs first European trophy for 41 years and Champions League football would just get a reaction of 'there they go again' in the football world :D

Sacking Ange at seasons end is the common sense decision. This would be based on 2 years of evidence that he is simply not up to the task of management at the top level. One potential night of joy and emotion is not going to change that. Levy doesn't make decisions based on emotion and nor should he.

Saying that "I honestly think people want to lose Wednesday" because they have a view that the manager isn't the right fit long term is properly funny.

Ange performance has been an abomination bar the EL and he has to win it or its even worse than that , if he wins it fair fcking play, he also likely gets next season. But what he doesn't get is the deckchair moment of dining out on it at the expense of next years league. If the form reads L-D-L after free he can hit the skids and no one can complain IMO

The idea we gave up the league for the EL is fanciful in itself, that would have had to be the case about 5 games in and most sane people know it wasn't.

Lets win the EL, after the disaster of a season, we need to first and foremost

Yeah he’s saying it’s the reason why we’ve lost so many games. So can we expect to lose a similar amount of games next season if we win the EL and play in the champions league next season?

Yeh and given that we won't come anywhere near the knock outs of the CL, so are we to expect the same again?

I just don't think people are giving props to just how bad 20 defeats is (likely to be more)

I will watch the game as dispassionately as I did the one on Sunday (the first time I've ever left a game early in the 52 years since my first attendance, sitting on my uncle's shoulders in the Park Lane), and just as I have done the vast majority of our games this season.
Aren't you a little old to still be sitting on your uncle's shoulders?

They'd be a large dose of sentimentality in any decision to keep Ange on (if we win).

But it'll give you the chance to get the stick out, if he goes.
If we lose in the final I promise that I will give no stick at all to the board for sacking the manager.

(though I reserve the right to give stick to them if they don't make a good hire for the next one ;) )

Out of interest do you think Man Utd made a good decision last summer in keeping Ten Haag and buying more players for him? Bear in mind that ETH had a poor season last year league results wise and also in terms of how his team played generally - but he never was as bad as we have been for over a year under Ange...

Also, from purely a tactical/coaching pov: what do you see as Ane's strengths that he brings to our playing squad? Who do you see as players that have gotten better under his tutelage?
This is Man Utd who have won 13 trophies since we won our last one you are talking about yes? The way that Man Utd act has no bearing on us, they are a hugely successful club who have demonstrated that they are constantly able to win trophies. We have won a single one (the least desirable one) in the entire history of our current set of owners. For what it is worth though, yes I think they were right to keep Ten Haag after he won them the FA Cup last season, even though winning the FA Cup is nowhere near as big a historic achievement for Man Utd as winning the Europa League would be for Spurs.

I liken Postecoglu to a bad comedian. brick jokes all night but the final joke is an absolute belter. Does that make him a good comedian? No. Would you go and watch him again? No. Sure the last joke was good but on the whole pretty awful
If that comedian told the best joke the venue had heard for 41 years and had the audience in raptures after telling that joke then I suspect the venue would get that comedian in again.

If you think it would be folly to sack Postecoglu then I think we are done 2bh....
'If' he wins the final.

He would've delivered what it is that managers of big football clubs are hired to do - win trophies (and yes I accept that we're perhaps not the same as most big football clubs and trophies don't seem to be the main aim with revenue being the primary goal instead.... and perhaps that is what has stopped us from actually winning some trophies?)

When we were playing weakened sides in the group stage, did we then lose at the weekend because we prioritised the cup?

He's as big a gobbrick as any manager we've had. It's all excuses, contradictions and utter gonads.

Its nothing to do with emotion. It is to do with outcome. Ange would've got 5th and Europa League football, following by the Europa League trophy and Champions League football.

I think THFC would be even more of a laughing stock in the football world than we are now if we sacked a manager who delivered that.

Brilliant to win a trophy. But if we do it doesn't mean we shouldn't want to improve. Whether that is upgrading playing staff or coaching staff.
Yes i'd like an upgrade on ownership aswell.

For you would winning a trophy make you want enic to be our owners still?

Thanks. Man Utd are indeed more decorated traditionally than us. I would also say (despite how bad their finances have become) they can afford to write-off seasons and rectify mistakes through flashing the cash. We can't - or at the least don't want to.

Would you be able to answer my other questions, i.e. what do you see as Ange's coaching strengths and which players have improved under his tutelage?

Were we a laughing stock when we sacked Juande Ramos?

Maybe - First trophy win in x years

Def - Worst league performance by any manager statistically in nearly our entire history

If people don't think that needs weighing up then GHod help em
