We don't play the likes of Chelsea every week, i'm more worried about the games against most of the other non-top6/7 teams in the league...and for us it's nothing new going way back to midway last season
But no team is keeping clean sheets thsi year
It’s why the league is so open
It’s not new for Tottenham, not just Ange

Exactly the points covered in The View From The Lane podcast linked above.

* We are trying to play in a way that’s never been attempted before in the PL
* There is probably a reason why it’s never been attempted before (i.e. it’s probably not possible)
* Some try to compare our approach to City’s, but they are masters at slowing a game down and holding the ball to allow for recuperation
* When our approach does work (e.g. in the United and City games this season) it involves running stats which are unsustainable for a team playing twice per week
* The very small chance of this style of football working in the PL would probably require two interchangeable players of the same level for each position. That’s difficult to facilitate, even if our owners would fund it
I dont see how our playing style is very different from AVBs, other than we dont have Bale

I'm not just talking aboit clea sheets though, i mean looking defensively solid and not giving away chances every 5 mins or so. I'd say whilst generally the league has kept less clean sheets, we have stayed the same and oters have regressed to being similar ore nearer us, but we've stayed the same. I look at oter teams and they look far more capable of being defensively solid or even just slowing the game down and taking the sting out of it via posession and control.
We play school yard running up and down constantly. It's no wonder we get the injuries we do and have the brain farts we do

No, AVB was much more controlled than this. We could play 100 mph at times, eys, but also could look to slow things down with sterile possession as needed

In fact, AVB with 10% added Ange football would have got us 4th in Bale's incredible 2012-2013 season at a canter imo

I listened to it

- Think the point about basing a game purely on being able to outrun your opponents is a genuine concern, to the points you have put.
- The City comparison is way off (i.e. dismissing it as a comparison), because City does have exactly the same issue as us (some variations as Pep has changed his style at times), they counter the issue by 3 things -> WC DM (Rodri), big squad with lots of rotation, and tactical fouling (how they reduce their counter risk). They can be guilty of time wasting/game management that we don't really do.
- They really killed their credibility by claiming this is potentially the worse Spurs team of last how many ever years .. flimflam, is it the prime Poch team? no, but one of our worse teams?

That’s the football that also gets us results

Points wise isn't it one of the worst in the last decade atm, no?

Was James Maw on it?
He is a toxic fan
Danny is negative but James is quite grim and typically negative about everything

The eye test and scoreline tells us that we went 2-0 up and collapsed. we can't keep trying to use stats to massage the reality of yet another collapse.
In future, we will have be 4-0 up and half-time against a rival .like Chelsea to feel we have a good chance to get a point?

If we/Ange wants to improve and move forward there has to be better realistic reflection
Maybe you need your eyes tested. As you failed to indentify myriad chances we had to score as well. Glass half empty.

I wasn't talking about where they come from so not sure where thats coming from, I am talking about them adding depth to their squad. They literally have 2 is not 3 for every position in defence.

The overall point I was making is Arteta was losing games hand over fist (a response to the games lost stats) but was backed and backed with players and time and its be proven the correct route.

As a fan base we seem to be above that kind of joined up thinking though

My point was that the stature of player you have mentioned there is the same as the stature we have been signing, ok not the window just gone but we have built our defence, including a cover player, on that calibre of signing.

As you are comparing us to Arsenal it may be worth reminding ourselves of who they were signing in Artetas first two summer windows (by way of comparison to Ange's first two summer windows) They weren't buying your Timbers & Califoris to supplement their first XI back then, they were signing the likes of Pablo Mari, Runarrson, Soares, Lokonga and Tavares for nominal fees.

Richarlson and then Lankshere for CF options behind Solonke before considering other players who can and have played there throughout their career - that's good depth.

LW/F - Son/Odobert/Werner/Moore

RW/F - Johnson/Kulusevski/Odobert/Moore(?)

We may be lacking some high end quality but we have depth up front. Can't be arsed to go through the whole squad now but bar GK or LB we have at least a good quality backup up player to call on. Our injury numbers are high though so we've been left short as a result
Agreed. And, although we lack those game changing players that might mean we compete with the top 4 as they are currently, we are surely as good if not better than the teams 5-10 in the table. I think we need to be careful not to put Ange's shortcomings down to just squad depth.

The issue for me is: i can't remember the last league game we were defensively comfortable or at least looked at ease and not ready to concede at a moment's notice when our high-line is bypassed. And no, i don't really count the Emirates Marketing Project game tbh
Why don’t you count it? 😂 You just remembered the last one and decided it didn’t fit your anti agenda?

Really? that would be 2+ years if the said new owners had a bottomless pit of money, and 3 months into it, would be this same fudging conversation

We are in a tough run, strongly influenced by multiple key players injured in a squad that is thin very specifically because we have been changing the entire team (refresh/rebuild everyone has been screaming for).

Basically half way through a tough season, we are 7 points short of top 4 and still in all the cups

The biggest issue with this club is it's fans .. amazing how obviously brick and out of his depth Nuno was eh? made fudging Europe with Wolves, looks like he'll do it again with Forest but our fudging fans turned on the guy within 5 games, because we all know better ..
What about Mourinho and conte, serial winners but just unpalatable for speaking the truth?

Fact is: we would have won but for two utterly brain dead penalties.

That doesn’t fit the haters narrative tho, so it’s all on Ange. ‘He makes them play like that’ 😂

What a fuking whinge fest.
