I still think he's going to be given until the Liverpool game at the very least. Given the squad state the club really need to try to do some transfer business in the next week. If we can get a few players in to help out on a short term basis and he is still unable to turn things around then there will little argument left against removing him especially after the tactical mistake made yesterday in the initial lineup.

I guess the frustration is our squad problems have been an issue for months and we are now 10 days away from window closing with our only signing being Kinsky. I fear that if it was difficult to get players in at the start of the window for whatever reason, how many players are going to be keen to join us right now?

I think players would come on loan, we don't need world beaters. Just people who can do a job for a few months. I know we got Kinsky but you could also interpret it as he's gone in the summer so we don't want to spend any money now.

Boring.

He doesn’t have the credentials to be the one manager that should be have been backed. Nothing annoys me tells me that he is a good manager or up for this level of coaching or scrutiny. He’s been found out last season, a busted flush. Managers with inferior squad’s and similar injuries are wiping the floor with him tactically.

I’m all for a project manager etc but at the very least you have to earn that not just be a token because of the previous.

Anyway Ancelotti is leaving Real Madrid this year. Don Carlo is the man that levy should break all of his stupid recruitment rules for.
I don’t Ange is the man for the job. But I’d like to see the change made at the end of the season rather than mid season. If the injured players come back and there is still a real danger of relegation then pull the trigger.

I think that's where I am at - a loss at home to Leicester will probably (rightly) bring the situation to a head though

I don’t think he’s a clown shoe and I don’t think arrogance necessarily equates to being one. You need a steadfast belief in what you’re doing to achieve what Ange has achieved in his career. He has that to the point he can be a bit condescending but he’s still a likeable man IMO.
I did think he was likeable. I liked the way in the beginning he didn't criticise refs and appeared to have integrity missing in other managers. His honesty felt refreshing even when I didn't necessarily agree with him, for example his views on VAR.

But put him under pressure and that integrity seemingly goes out of the window. He'll criticise and insinuate against referees with the best of them and he comes across as a petulant bully during interviews. Tie that in with a naivete I didn't think was possible in a supposed top level coach and he has quickly lost his appeal.

Only because it's harder to get someone in at this stage. Otherwise for me he should be gone as he's in a spiral of decline that I think he will struggle to come out of.

The club have committed to and are in the middle of a rebuild and we really need to evaluate things based on that rather than the idea that we are out the other side of one and looking to challenge further up the table. Ange would have known this when taking the job and has said as much regarding how many windows it will take to get the squad to where it needs to be. We have had to bring in younger players to address the issues with home grown & association trained players that our previous transfer policy (or lack thereof) created. Ange signed off on all of those players and said that they were ready to make an impact in the immediate term as much as the long term. The players there who have all played minutes for us all look to be good/great signings.

Look at the players we got rid of in the summer. Any other ceo that had signed some of these off would be sacked on the spot. He’s bald nepo baby never held accountable for his continued mistakes. Its just embarrassing. And this was one summer of his fudge ups being shipped!

Ange is not the problem here.

I know exactly how he feels. Ange lost me too yesterday. And it’s wasn’t about the performance because I’ve seen far worse.

The game started and I was looking out for Gray in midfield, something I’ve been looking forward to but pretty soon I saw 3 at the back. WTF???

He basically abandoned his principles. Something he said he’d never do. He’s basically a fraud. Ok that may be too strong but certainly spineless. Just put Gray in midfield and keep the shape. If you’re going to lose your nerve do it against a big team, not Everton.

The problem in my mind is that he didn't compromise his principles. He just kept them going in a different formation. He never went to Everton to come away with minimally a draw. He never played a number 6 that wasn't told to press high up their half. We never looked solid from the get go, even though we looked sort of OK in phases.

I'd love to see Spurs in a half of football stalemate with both teams negating each other. That would be progress.

Didn't someone on here say that they should stick cameras on the ground and point them up when they record them when interviewing Ange?

Made me giggle.

Wonder if any of the Japanese journalists have these cameras in their shoes?! As they’d be perfect for interviewing Postecoglou 😅

@Lilbaz remember after that Chelsea game when we ended up with 9 men, i said Ange showed some Ossie Ardiles tendencies and you shouted me down as if i'd been blasphemous...well look where we are now eh....

Wtf? No i don't remember. But well done mystic meg. Can tell a managers credentials from a game where we had 9 men and 2 major injuries and actually played really well considering. Hats óff to you. Have a badge or something.

Ange is not the problem here.

So out of those 8 players, 2 were on loan and had no 1st team impact.
2 Ange refused to give barely any opportunity ot in the 1st team setup.
2 were long term injuries.

So we're actually talking about Ange losing 2 players that participated - Hoj and Emerson. That would be offset in the ones he got coming the other way.

Ange isn't blameless. He is both the victim and the beneficiary of the great squad churn we've been working through.

I would advise the club to finish the job they started. There has been so much good work done and we're well set for the future.

Go on then, which of those players specifically would get someone the sack for signing them?

Agreed but if Leicester get rid of RVN (can't believe they hired him in the first place) their new manager could give them a bounce. Either way we need to focus on our results and not rely on any favours; oh and not be complacent that we are too good to go down.

If anyone thinks that we are too good, just let it sink in that we have only beaten one of the teams below us this season.

2 wins, 2 draws, 2 losses against the bottom 5. Hopefully can win those 6 pointers with Leicester and Ipswich before we get dragged into the mire.

Everton 4-0 2-3
Wolves 2-2 TBC
Ipswich
1-2 TBC
Leicester TBC
1-1
So’ton TBC 5-0

Jobbing players for new jobbing players?

Its madness. Utter madness.

Levy still believes dele, Toby, Eric, Son, Harry, Kyle, Jan and Kieron was just normal and not the fluke of the century. ( bar Leicester )

We haven’t had a signing like those in nearly 7 years. Mickey is the closest we’ve had since and sadly he’s injury prone.

On paper you wouldn't fancy us away from home v either Wolves or Ipswich given the home results.

He is the victim here. Another two. Lo Celso. Reguillon.

Awful signings but those 2 add up to the squad too.

Presumably you think Levy scouted &/or recommended Ndombele then? Or that he should be held accountable for buying players that his manager or DOF wanted?

He was the guy that signed the checks. He was also known for being very involved in football matters. Its in Pochs book and he has only ‘changed’ since Conte left. Conte and Moureeno said he was too involved and a nightmare.

Even so. He is responsible. If he wasn’t a nepo baby he would very much be held accountable to his multiple fudge ups in the last quarter of a century.

More proof that our manager won't use the resources available to him. Reggie has left our manager with egg on his face this season. He's a player at his prime who I would churn eventually. Not using him is stupid. He's played well. Same thing happened with Gio, who Ange wouldn't even put in match day squads. Another one who we needed to churn but should have optimised his talents whilst he was still our player.

There is never one thing that leads to Ange not being the right fit, but there are clues in every single topic that is discussed. They add up to a lot.
