    Would relegation be that bad?

It doesn’t cut by at least 40% at all. We HOPE we have such clauses but have no idea whether we do or not. If we do have clauses in place then we have no idea on the amount. I think 40% is our best bet, our worst bet is 0% Loyalty bonuses tend to be quite substantial and can easily make up...

    These jokers…

I suspect because he did badly at Villa. His Spurs record was good. That got him the chance at Villa. Where he did badly…. And as he hasn’t got much other experience PL teams aren’t likely to take a chance. Why is it that you can’t admit he did a good job at Spurs?

    These jokers…

There were a whole bunch of unique situations back in Sherwood’s last stint that don’t apply now, i.e. that he had really good, first hand knowledge of a good youth crop coming through, could put back in a few good players who had fallen out with AVB and could set us up differently to the mind...

    Would relegation be that bad?

We hope! But we don't know yet. The sweet spot would be us having great relegation penalties in our player contracts and no relegation penalties in our commercial deals

    Would relegation be that bad?

Just coming back to this having thought about it a bit more. It probably doesn't make sense for the player you mentioned but actually could make sense for some of our other players We have a bunch of players that we have purchased recently and paid some quite big fees for. If selling those...

    Would relegation be that bad?

£200m of transfer fees yes (though I don't see anyone paying £60m for VDV, nor £50m for Kudus but we'll all have our own different valuations) The issue is that it is not £200m of profit as we would have to write off their current net book values, which for the players you mention are about...

    These jokers…

We don't need somebody to get the highest points per premier league game of all of our managers in the premier league.... We just need a bit more than a point a game.... Though for the record I don't think Sherwood is the answer at all. To be honest I'm not sure whether there is an answer...

    These jokers…

The man who turned around the brick that your serious man crush - AVB was serving up. Made us both better to watch and improved the number of points.

    Would relegation be that bad?

They are in the premier league but not in the championship. As far as I'm aware the championship has different rules to the PL (and even league 1 & 2). In the championship the rule is much more simple with it being an allowable loss. All revenues and all costs are counted unfortunately.

    Would relegation be that bad?

Your posting was fine IMO. You made a point/posed a question on a Spurs forum. If you're not happy for people to disagree with your point or answer your question in a way you don't like then you're probably in the wrong place. In my long post that was split into two, I said at the very end...

    Would relegation be that bad?

That’s the answer then…. Rack up big losses and then lawyer up! ;)

    Would relegation be that bad?

This forum would be pretty boring if it was just people agreeing with other. If I disagree with something somebody has posted then I’ll say it. I fully expect the same in reverse. I don’t think there is such a thing as a glory-glory leadership position and, if there was, I don’t think it...

    Would relegation be that bad?

I’d say they’re pretty fudging bad wouldn’t you?…. (I actually posted it all as one post originally but it was so long that I broke it up into two).

    Would relegation be that bad?

Wrong!.... All of those players will have some money due to them for the remaining installments of their loyalty payments, so some of the £66m of wage savings will go on that, also most, if not all of them, will have a net book value so that we'll only be a portion of the £320m in transfer fees...

    Would relegation be that bad?

I tried to do a few loose calculations based on our last few sets of accounts (apols in advance for the long post - split into two!) Something that I have always pointed out as worrying me is how high our non wage operational costs are. Yes, we make a lot of revenue from the stadium but the...

    Would relegation be that bad?

I think you misunderstand how big a problem we have in terms of losses. We don't have the luxury of being able to just get wages off the books, we desperately also need a large influx of income via profit on transfer fees.
  17. F

    Would relegation be that bad?

Absolutely. Those that think we don't have huge issues in the event of relegation are burying their heads in the sand. Many of our costs are pretty much fixed (and very high). The only real lever that we can pull to reduce costs is to reduce our wage bill, and even pulling that lever isn't...

    Would relegation be that bad?

If there are covenants (very likely there will be) then they would either have to be covered by a liquidity injection by the owners (could be in the form of loans) or player sales. The transfer debt worries me more than the stadium debt as our transfer debt will be short term and not long term...

Sounds exactly like what happens with VAR…. just without the delays. I’m in!

    James Maddison

I don’t think he is ever brick. I think he is sometimes excellent and sometimes good. He always works hard, wants the ball and tries to make things happen. I wish I could say the same for every Spurs player.
