Pretty much every public figure says what they don't mean on a regular basis. That's the nature of having everything you say scrutinised and being asked difficult questions all day long. He was quite clear about the clarification.

The most competent party during a boom would be something like Blair's late 90s party. NBut that party could never govern during a financial crisis. Different parties have different competencies. It would make sense to be able to change government when the landscape has such life altering...

I understand, of course, that's not doing what I thought it was. I'd say the difference between being one of the architects of something like the holocaust and being a strong supporter of it who meets with with and encourages those carrying it out is a fairly small one. I'm fairly sure...

Not just me, pretty much everyone who doesn't get their information from Al Jazeera. Interesting seeing what it's surrounded by too.

I'm not editing or censoring anything. But if the wrong person reads that and I can't delete my logs fast enough, he could be in trouble.

Comparing Israel's leadership to Hitler. It's considered hate speech in the UK and has been prosecuted fairly recently I believe.

"a system of government in which power is held by elected representatives who are freely voted for by the people, or held directly by the people themselves"

That's some very dodgy ground you're on. People have been (rightfully) prosecuted for making that comparison.

Hang on. Just now you were talking about 1967. Make up your mind.

Surely if the landscape changes significantly, then an election wouldn't be out of order. Imagine if Labour had won the election in 2008. We'd currently be asking Argentina for handouts.

I'd like to see how Netanyahu acts when not surrounded by people whose deepest belief systems tell them that Israel has to right to exist whatsoever. I suspect we could all be pushed to surprising lengths under such existential threats.

They need to do more than sort the car out. Hamilton had what, 8? laps in Q1. They couldn't find him space for a clear lap once. They only found Leclerc 1 clear lap. How many times have they screwed their own drivers over with poor decisions in the last few years? I thought Vasseur might solve...

Then don't make promises that they can't keep. It's not what they do that's the issue, it's what they promise to a gullible electorate.

Of course we can, but there's one important contrast that we should always keep in mind: If Hamas put down their arms there would be no more war. If Israel put down their arms there would be no more Israel.

That's also pay related though. MPs get paid a pittance and can lose their job overnight. They have to have somewhere to land.

But only one side that has an elected, democratic government. Only one side that protects all people equally under their government. Only one side that wouldn't immediately murder all of the others if they put down arms.

That might be a bit much - you have to allow voters to choose. It should trigger a by-election certainly. And probably come with a ban (lengthy, maybe permanent) from holding any serious office.

Most Israelis have served in the military at some point. So it is a bit like saying they are. I think Palestinians could do more to help themselves. There's no need for Hamas to exist. They hide amongst civilians so that they can't get what they deserve. If civilians were to tell the IDF...

So on the same basis, all Palestinians are terrorists, right?

Talking of manifestos. One of the simplest and greatest improvements to our political system would be to automatically trigger an election if manifesto promises are broken.
