I think those points absolutely show that he is a good (great?) mayor for Manchester. Until I hear him talking about a government's need to show fiscal responsibility (or at least certainly not talking up the opposite) then I'd err on the side of caution when it comes to wanting him as PM...

I actually went away to do some reading as I felt a little ignorant on the history of the place so wanted to learn more. I read lots last night, I found it so interesting that I ended up going right through until the start of the cricket. In particular I found the reading on the 6 day war...

To say he was an "agent" is perhaps overstating things as most view agents on here. He worked in a factory, but put himself through legal school to qualify as a lawyer and then represented a bunch of young footballers who didn't have a dad on the scene or anyone scrupulous looking after their...

But your comment was "Hamas are not in the West Bank". When they absolutely are in the West Bank (as are other terrorist organisations, the most eminent of which is the Palestinian Islamic Jihad). You're now changing that to Hamas not ruling in the West Bank after being called out as wrong...

To be fair to him, Mohammed bin Salman's views are positively moderate and liberal compared to many of the rulers of places in and around that region!

The broadcasting and entertainments centre is only due to the BBC. If (when?) the BBC die I suspect Salford City dies with it. I actually think that Burnham is a great Mayor. I don't think he would make a good PM however (he has already spoken about not agreeing with fiscal responsibility).

Oh…. Are you one of those people that think Hamas is a political party?

Yes they are. Their primary base is Gaza but they also operate cells in the West Bank. PIJ are another terrorist group that are based in the West Bank.

I know it is complicated. I just wonder how you can make a quote of 'fair share' while having no idea how to define a fair share. If we can't put numbers on the UK's intake then how can we ever devise, cost out, finance and then implement a coherent policy? Do you disagree with my point that...

So you consider the West Bank to be part of Israel? I'm pretty sure it's not (though I confess I'm not very knowledgeable on Israel and the Middle East, perhaps the borders are different to what I understand them to be?) Personally I consider neither the West Bank or Gaza to be part of Israel...

Ah Ok. I did wonder if it was that bit in particular. I'll give you my reason for using the term that I did.... I consider illiberal places to be backward. Anywhere that doesn't give equal rights to those based on sex, sexuality or religion (or lack of) are illiberal in my opinion (and that...

So your answer is 'it is too complicated a question to answer'. Maybe it's just me(?) but I see that as not answering the question at all. If it is too complicated to be able to define what a 'fair share' is then why did you make a statement in an earlier post about the UK potentially avoiding...

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

No you didn't answer it. Any actual answer would've been to my liking as it would've provided a reference number that we could then debate whether that number was 'fair' and also whether it is affordable/supportable. You instead completely avoided answering the question. I'll say here...

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

Sorry but you haven't answered my question at all. In fact you have completely avoided it. I think people tend to avoid that question because they know that if they had to stand behind a number it would be absolutely huge and be all too evident how unsustainable it is. So let's go again...

@LutonSpurs you laughed at my post but I'm interested in what about the post you found laughable? Do you disagree that Israel operates a democracy where all faiths are allowed to be practiced and all citizens can be educated, work and vote whatever their race, religion, gender or sexuality?

Not being Israeli or jewish I'm not close to being an expert on all things Israel. However, I had always thought Israel was a democratic and reasonably tolerant state that allowed all faiths to be practiced and all citizens to be educated, work and vote whatever their race, religion, gender or...

Thanks. But, again, what is a 'fair share'? and which countries does the UK share that 'fair share' number with?

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

I don't think it is about people living in 'poor' countries at all. I think it is about people living in countries where there is no respect for human rights. You say my post is shocking but you haven't attempted to answer the question I posted in it. What is a 'fair share' and with which...

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

I do consider them as people and I have compassion for people who are in terrible situations through no fault of their own. But that doesn't answer my question. What is our 'fair share' and with which countries do we share our 'fair share' responsibility with? If we answer that question then...
