Surely he meant 4 or 5 for City?

Ref has been truly awful. As has our attempted playing out from the back. And we let in yet another goal through ball watching. However, this is a very strong opponent and we have done very well to be in the game at this stage.

I think he might be correct and that we are indeed on another level compared to last season. Whether or not that level is above last season remains to be seen.

I think there’s a very good chance we will finish lower. Really hope I’m wrong and just annoyed after yet another chastening defeat, but I struggle to see us beating enough decent teams to be challenging for the European spaces.

I agree with most of what you say, apart from the finishing 6/7 bit.

I’m desperate for Ange to do well but with every performance like this (and there are many) it’s becoming clearer and clearer that he’s out of his depth. Poor team selections, bizarre tactics (for the love of GHod, PLEASE mix it up rather than playing out from the back EVERY SINGLE TIME. It...

What an absolute bellend. That said, his pointless videos/blogs/whatever they’re called probably earn him more money than I’ll ever earn, which causes me to question ‘who’s the real bellend?’ It’s still him.

Exactly. So far, every time we have come up against a decent side we have lost.

We weren’t going to score, but I’d love to know how it is that whistle goes almost bang on +4 when they had a player down with ‘cramp’ for about 45 seconds during injury time. Overall, that’s probably the spursiest pile of brick I’ve seen since City In the cup

No doubt that Ange is slow in making changes and his side often seems to lose the impetus when opposing coaches tweak their teams at HT. that said, the abysmal defending apparent in virtually every goal we concede can’t really be laid at his door.

I don’t think that ‘pathetic’ quite sums this up.

How come Veltman got to take that throw again?

I know our game management can be called naive. But it isn’t it rather nice to see a side up against it that doesn’t try every dirty trick in the book to cheat its way over the line?

Why can’t our defenders control the ball?

We are very adept at screwing ourselves over, aren’t we? That was truly pathetic play from Dragusin. As I type: good finish Johnson!

Part of me is highly amused by Haaland’s behaviour (the above, plus throwing the ball at Saliba). However, the grown up part of me thinks he’s an incredibly bad loser and not able to control his emotions, causing petulance to take over. Not a good look in my view. Although funnily enough, it...

    The Goon Thread

I find it rather hilarious that they all seem to think that the entire world is out to get them. I’d argue (from my admittedly biased viewpoint) that they get a massive amount going in their favour: far, far more than goes against them. Straight off the top of my head I’d offer up Odegaards...

Agreed. I’ve seen two references along the lines of “would’ve been a massive statement win”. Statement win? Last year in the charity shield we saw a draw described as a ‘statement win’ and now we are seeing it again, albeit with the use of a different tense (conditional pluperfect? 😂😂)...
