Contingency planning : we've found our guy

True. But at that time Arsenal were not great.

    Pushing Up The Daisies

I know you have briefly written about bad experiences you suffered as a child growing up at the hands of a Catholic institution. Some terrible things have come from Catholicism, like all big organisations, sadly it has not been immune. I am so sorry for those who have suffered in the name of...

    James Maddison

Was sure it was his body that collided with Maddison’s head? Have to watch again tbf.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

That Squad included Modric, Bale, Adebayor VDV, Lennon, Defoe with Ledley as CB. Best one in recent times imho, should have won something or at least come close. That it didn’t really compete for major trophies, for me meant he did a very good job rather than a great one.

    James Maddison

I love Madders. Hope he’s fine. Horrible challenge by the goalie, thankfully though the force may have been mitigated by the fact his torso hit him rather than the boot as in the Mateta collision.

    Ange departs

We need to enjoy being in a semi but also not let it blind us to the longer term issues highlighted by the poor performance in the league. We shouldn’t be so fickle as to change our position game to game.

    European semi final

Again very fair. My view differs though insofar as I believe the tactics played exacerbated the injuries resulting in where we are in the League and the domestic tournaments. He wants to play a certain way and that way is not sustainable. Last night was not his preferred playing system, but he...

    European semi final

I agree mostly mate. But given he has had an awful season in the league and that’s what counts in the long run, he needs to show that he can embed his system there against better opposition than we are likely to face in the Europa. Otherwise we will be back here next season.

    Ange departs

He’s shown it before, Liverpool in the first Leg of Carabao was our best performance of the season. But he swiftly goes back to playing his preferred way. Even yesterday there were times, albeit fewer than usual, where our organisation at the back gave up chances for Frankfurt. Once the pace of...

    European semi final

Well we won’t be playing Liverpool and the other teams seem beatable so why not! But don’t want to get my hopes up yet.

    Ange departs

That’s not as much of an achievement as it would have been in previous years, given that they have both had Meh seasons. I would love us to win the Europa league , but with Utd and Spurs in the semis - 2 teams who have had otherwise awful domestic seasons , that may be suggest the quality of...

    ***OMT*** Tottenham...Thursday Night In Frankfurt

We also had a lot of key injuries in that run, which is often forgotten. Kane, Dele, Wanyama Lamela and a demotivated, wantaway Eriksen. We didn't have the squad options to cover them, hence a lot of games with Winks and Sissoko in midfield and a 34 year old Llorente up front. Due to the...

    Modric

Glenn Hoddle was the best of all of them imho.

    Ange departs

Because the main issue around Spurs at the moment is Ange. That's why people post about it, some repeatedly. Not every person posting sees the world the same way we do but posting on a forum where everyone is a supporter of my club tends to mean I have more in common with most. For me, the...

It does beg the question of why do you post on a fans' forum and moreover visit the same thread? :). We all post for different reasons. Would be a boring place if we didn't.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

We still gave up some very good chances against Brentford though. Wissa missed some big chances from what I recall. It was a better performance defensively. But he's not been able to do that elsewhere though.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

I know we disagree on this Steff, but did you see Bournemouth grind out a win against an in form Foolham side yesterday? I thought it was impressive given that Bournemouth have been on a poor run recently. Not some thing I've seen us do at all this season. Plus Bournemouth have secured results...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

It's been a catastrophic decision in terms of money lost and the club being able to attract decent players in the immediate future due to the likely failure to get Champions League football. He's also sat by while this has happened in front of him rather than taking decisive action. If I lost...

    Ange departs

On Nuno, yet again I'll say his situation does not compare to Ange's. The narrative around Nuno was all wrong to begin with. He was someone the club had "settled for," way down the list of preferred candidates who had turned us down. Now, I was pleased when he was appointed as I thought he had...

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Wolverhampton Wanderers ***

Plus a defensive shape that is all over the place. It's like the 4 players play independently of each other rather than a unit. Each one decides where they should be rather than the unit being set up properly, with positions drilled. It's telling that the main changes yesterday were in defence...
