I'm out of this discussion mate.

Where ? I must have missed that.

    Ange departs

I think, with respect you've misunderstood my post, as you seem to be running with a different argument. I have never played down our win or that it was lucky? But there is a narrative that Ange is the only one who got us over the line. Of course factually that is correct. But the context of...

No one is arguing otherwise are they?

    Ange departs

Sorry mate not sure I get your point? Just saying that there is context to this win compared to other finals. Not a direct comparison to those teams just that we were massive underdogs in those finals compared to the Europa League one. Can't see anything wrong in pointing that out?

    Ange departs

You don't know that was the case in this final anymore than any other final, unless you were in the changing room before the match . And if you were I doth my cap to you Sir.

Other managers failed in finals where we were against better teams. Like many have said grateful that Ange got us over the line, but this was the first final where 2 teams were evenly matched. I ask myself would Ange have beaten Ferguson's Man Utd in 2009, Mourinho 's future champions in 2015...

Don't agree with all of this but great to have you posting on here again @BrainOfLevy . Perhaps now you're back it might spur Nayim to come back so we can once again have pages of discussion . All meant in good spirit mate.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

This is a brilliant point against the Ange had created a "winning mentality." What he did in the Europa League was brilliant in winning it. But would we have won if better teams had been in it or does it mean we are now set up to go on and win more? I don't think so. That's why I say it was on...

    Ange departs

In fairness, I think most people are speaking out of emotion ATM. I mean I have been Ange out since the start of the year but even then I feel sad for him. You could not help but be moved and carried by the emotion around the parade. Even with that said, I think this is a courageous move by...

    Ange departs

Full respect to @tommysvr , I didn't agree with everything he said, but he said Ange would bring us some great nights and he was right. I think overall this is the right decision, but I'm not celebrating. Surprisingly sad and Wish Ange all the best.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

What about Dragu? I recall him playing a lot before his injury. It's like we don't or didn't have a squad. But the range of options in each are/were the best I've known in recent times. Palace have a small squad in comparison, the loss of key players is more keenly felt. So a simple comparison...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

Finishing second and reaching the Champions League final were actually unprecedented. The first in the PL era the second in our club's history. We are historically a cup winning team. And don't get me wrong I loved those cup wins. But the consistency of winning the league has only happened...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

I don’t think it’s a straight forward correlation that winning means you’re good and not winning means you’re not. I’m troubled by this narrative if I’m honest mate. We were aiming for the biggest trophies under Poch, and the year on year progression up to his final season put us in the frame...

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

Probably because finishing high up in the league is the best sign of consistent progression. Winning a cup in isolation is superb for us as fans but doesn’t necessarily indicate progression. Ask Juande Ramos, or George Graham.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

Or it shows you have to do both?! The clubs that win the most trophies are generally those who do well in the league too. I've said it before, different clubs won trophies this season. We were the only one of those who gave up on the league. In that sense this season was unprecedented.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

I can't remember tbh. But he didn't last long even after those big trophy wins.

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

Chelsea didn't think "getting over the line" was enough to keep Di Matteo and, at the risk of devaluing the Europa League, he won the FA cup and Champions League in the same season..

Contingency planning : we've found our guy

We saw how that guy fared in the league last season....hence the debate over to stick or twist.
