    Cheatski are still scum

I could have sworn they tried to move to Battersea and Earls Court? I think any neutral would say that their stadium in the 90s was terrible. But, as it was the only one in Stamford Bridge, I suppose it was the finest!

Champions League 2017/18 - Round of 16: Juventus

Monaco in Pot 1 and Pot 3! Unfortunately, Liverpool are likely to be seeded in the play-off and in Pot 3 if they make it to the group stage. Only 5 teams can qualify from the play-offs through the league route and I think there are more than 5 included in the list above. The lower...

The Official 2016/17 Premier League Thread

Or, if Liverpool lose 0-2 and Arsenal draw 1-1, they'd both have 73 points, 75 goals for & 44 goals against and would need a play off to decide who finishes 4th.

    Champions League 2016/17

By my reckoning the max points Arsenal and Man Utd can get are 75 & 74 respectively, so 76 points would guarantee Liverpool at least 4th place.

United in grey? Mourinho will be dusting off Fergie's "players couldn't see each other" excuse.

Champions League 2017/18 - Round of 16: Juventus

Zenit lost today and are a point behind CSKA with 3 games left. Another possibility for help is for Napoli not to reach the group stage. They are currently 3rd which would give entry to the play-off round. I will be supporting Ajax/Lyon in the EL final if they're playing Man Utd, but I'd rather...

The Official 2016/17 Premier League Thread

That's from the PL website? You'd hope they would get it right but there's a couple of problems there. On the first point (Man Utd finish in the top four) that's correct if Man Utd finish 4th but if Man Utd finish 3rd (which admittedly looks unlikely) the top 4 wouldn't all qualify for the...

The Official 2016/17 Premier League Thread

If United win the EL finishing outside the top 4 it won't make any difference to the 4th place team - they will start in the play-off round as normal, which for Liverpool could well mean being unseeded and facing the likes of Sevilla, Napoli or Dortmund.

    Champions League 2016/17

Swiss Ramble has estimated the financial distribution to English clubs from this season's Champions League: Leicester €78.1m, Arsenal €62.4m, Emirates Marketing Project €48.2m, Spurs €41.8m. (Tottenham will also get €0.5m from the Europa League Round of 32).

    Wembley 2017/18

The pricing map shows some season tickets in the front rows of the upper tiers on either side. But, even if all season tickets were in the lower & middle tiers, the capacity of those is around 50000. Number of existing season ticket holders? 23000? plus new season tickets per club announcement...

    The race for 86 points

To summarise, the number of points currently required for each finishing position are: 1st ~ 90 2nd ~ 81 3rd ~ 80 4th ~ 79 5th ~ 77 6th ~ 71 For all positions other than 1st it's highly likely that one point fewer would be sufficient for Spurs to take the place on goal difference. The points...

    The race for 86 points

With Liverpool losing and City & United still to play each other, 80 points would now guarantee a top 3 finish.

    The race for 86 points

If we're in the CL group stage draw then having Liverpool (ranked below us) in the draw too might help us into a higher pot. I'd also enjoy seeing Mourinho miss out but overall I agree it would do more damage to Liverpool & Arsenal not to have CL football than the Manchesters therefore that's my...

    The race for 86 points

Who do you want to finish in the top 4? Obviously Spurs and, although I'm not taking it for granted, we're in a strong position to do so. Whether you want them to or not it' s inevitable that Chelsea will and we can probably assume that Everton won't. Of the other 4 teams in contention which...

Yes but only with regard to a player falsely pretending that an offence has been committed against them by an opponent, not with regard to hoping that an offence they have committed has gone unnoticed.

The Official 2016/17 Premier League Thread

The idea that a deliberate handball must be punished with a yellow card is an often repeated myth (not least by commentators). It must be deliberate in order to be penalised with a free kick. If it's not deliberate then it's not handball anyway. The handball is only punished with a yellow card...
