    British Steel

Germany has a 5 year subsidy package in place worth 12 billion in 2024 alone. It lowers energy costs to their industries.

    British Steel

It has been suggested part of the UKs steel making problem is being uncompetitive. Other large scale steel producing nations have cheaper energy subsidised by their governments. Our energy costs are too high for the process to be viable. We could be the first nation to have an extinct steel...

I don't understand the cycle but somebody has to produce new steel surely ? Recycle is good but how many times can you recycle steel ? Is the model of importing so much a good one ?

    British Steel

Sad news about Port Talbot works with the closure of the iron ore furnaces and loss of thousands of jobs. The new replacement arc electrical furnaces don't actually produce steel from ore. They melt down scrap steel. Tata of India own the site. British Steel was sold to a Chinese company in 2020 !!

    So, what happened today?

The title of the piece is Rue de la Bavolle, Honfleur......or similar. It depicts a street with shops and people. Painted in 1864 very early in the artists career, possibly the first year. The print I have is framed and inscribed to the back, given as a wedding present in 1961. I know Olney...

    So, what happened today?

I am an antiques and small time art dealer based in Northamptonshire. History and culture is a large part of my business and I enjoy learning. I used to visit London 3 or 4 times a week but no more for various reasons. I am 63 now and still learning. I have a 1960s print of a work by Monet and...

***OMT EPL TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Manchester United***

The first goal came within the first few minutes when we were very fresh, probably too fresh !! Our MF had two naturally defensive and combative players in Skipp and Hojbjerg, Bentancur has also got good defensive awareness as shown later in the game. Our defensive shape on that first goal was...

There is a difference between running back into your own half to defend and coming out to meet the attack from your own half.

***OMT EPL TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Manchester United***

When the pass was made to the Man U attacker for the first goal from close to the half way line we had only 2 defenders in our own half that could engage with him by chasing him, not coming out to meet him.We weren't attacking their goal, the pass came after their keeper threw the ball out to...

***OMT EPL TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Manchester United***

For me it is perhaps not being so predictable. The one dimensional approach will get found out. We have pace up top now so hitting on the break could be another option. I have noticed particularly Vicario and Romero inviting the opposition to press sometimes. That opens spaces for us to run into.

It was how early we got caught that worried me. Its a warning perhaps not to get too high too early ?

***OMT EPL TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Manchester United***

During my deep dive on Spursplay I wanted to note how many times our highline caused problems for our defence. It was 10 occasions and Utd were clearly playing the ball into the gap behind Porro. One goal resulted from it. On a few occasions it required last ditch defending and a couple of poor...
