Yep Kulu and Sarr weren't the problem, we got control of the game after they came on. We lost it again after the late subs and we were even more vulnerable to set pieces.

One thing that's not been taken into account , is that teams at the top ( which we are) normally score a lot more late goals than they concede.

I agreed with the first two subs but even though I'm not Royals biggest fan , I would have brought him on for Porro who I thought had a bad first half. Davies is also a decent shout , he's gritty and determined and puts his body on the line when he has to, which was needed today. Maddison...

And that's why Maddison should have stayed on.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Makes it a lot harder when you bring on Skipp and Gill and take off Maddison and play a back 5 which I don't have a problem with but not when you completely cede the midfield and continue to play a high line.

I remember Ange saying a few months ago they had been working on corners and set pieces intensely and we were actually defending them well. City spotted what they thought was a perceived weakness and we had all game to adjust and not only not concede but put the targeting of our keeper to bed...

I've said this all season , agree with most of his starting eleven but find myself very rarely agreeing with his subs and struggling to understand the reasons or the pros outweighing the cons.

But Maddison can hold the ball under pressure. He's technically better than the others , only him and Bissoumma are press resistant ( possibly Bentancur but he was already off) he also gets a foot in and has some game intelligence. For the sake of a few minutes why bring on Inferior players ?

What on earth did Ange do with those late subs? Not the Kulu or Sarr subs but the gill and Skipp subs , no experience and no ability to defend set pieces and even the Dragusin sub , it completely conceded the midfield bit we were still getting caught with our high line. There is no way I would...

Sarr on , royal for porro , kulu for either winger. Need more physicality and height. Getting outmuscled and outhassled

Don't agree that Walker made Udogie look like a schoolboy,we must have been watching different games. Udogie had two to deal with most of the time and more than held his own ,especially one on ones , he has a good game.

Perhaps if when City were getting well on top as we started to flag , in the last 15-20 minutes , we could have tried to settle for the draw and had an "Enter the Dragon" moment and brought Dragusin on. I'm sure he could have squashed Diaz and kept him out of the way of vic , or indeed headed...

It shouldn't. I don't blame him for the goal. It's no more his fault than it is the rest of the team failing to protect him and if the players weren't told to protect him as City were trying this on multiple occasions then that's on the coaching staff as well.

It's not a massive opportunity. It's a small chance to beat the best team in the world which becomes even smaller with three or four ( if you include Maddison who didn't look match fit) of our best players missing.

Thinking about a physical presence from set pieces , even Veliz is missing. Surely a better option off the bench rather than Dane Scarlett. Injuries and absentees are still affecting us badly. Certainly more than City , needed to be the other way round

Well , one consolation from city's display is that the goons arent winning the title. Got to be the scousers or city hasn't it ?

Yeah that's how it's been with them previously. A Son or Kane or even a Lorente to pull something out for us.

We should have had a player(s) protecting keeper from Diaz and to get any loose ball. Vicario did actually get a punch on it but hit Vdv and ricocheted to Ake. Should have more players around the keeper though.
