Back after 8 years... what did I miss?

A considered, fair and balanced view of the UK government. What a refreshing change.

    Black Lives Matter

Not necessarily, if that was your initial aim. Which I have absolutely no doubt was the case for a portion of those involved.

    Coronavirus

If they were actually trying to keep 2m apart, I'd say most of them failed the test.

    Buy the dip.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was suggesting. There was clearly a lot of pent-up demand on the buy side looking for a 'bargain', I'd guess 5000 was the point a large chunk of it pulled the trigger. The bounce was immediate and very significant - I'm not sure it's closed below about 5.4 since...

You haven't frequented 'coronavirus' or 'politics politics politics' for a while, then...?

    Buy the dip.

There was a huge, immediate bounce when it dipped a fraction below below 5000. I wonder if & at what point the opposite might occur?

    Of course they were.

Regarding the upgraded murder charge against Chauvin; by playing to the gallery in this way, haven't prosecutors substantially increased the risk of him walking? (little-no knowledge of US legal system by the way)

Same question I posed to a similar sort of post yesterday - are these figures compiled in a way that makes this sort of comparison meaningful? I don't have a definitive answer, but my strong suspicion is no. The FT stated a couple of weeks ago that either Italy or Spain (can't recall...

    Coronavirus

Ok, not easy to find a definitive answer to that. In the meantime, I'm going to assume not. This however certainly seems to suggest your information on Italy's most recent death count is faulty. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/italy/

    Coronavirus

Genuine question - are Italy reporting deaths in a way that's comparable to our revised reporting method yet?

Completely agree with your general point on the misrepresentation of the data. The only defence I can think of in this instance is that it might not be the worst message for certain people to be hearing right now - those flouting the guidelines or intending to do so. Highly questionable as...

    Fund raising for Jeremy @Yermiyahu

I might have disagreed with one or two of your posts in other threads over the years, but definitely none moreso than this. What absolute, total nonsense! And I didn't know Jeremy personally, but I'm pretty sure he'd take my side here...

    Coronavirus

No I don't think they do, I think they report one headline figure made up of several subsets of test variety. As a casual observer I was aware that this figure included home testing kits sent out, and so in turn was able to deduce that the headline figure would not be a true reflection of...

So saddened by everything he went through. At least his suffering is at end. Best wishes to his family and loved ones.

Speaking for myself, that's not an impression I've ever taken from government presentations. I always assumed a reasonably high proportion of 'wastage' among the home-testing element. Which itself is probably a different discussion.

    Black Lives Matter

Ok. I just wondered if you'd be able to spot the irony in the fact that you're complaining about prejudice, then blanket-labelling the police as racist bastards. Obviously not.

Have a think about what you've written there.

Not sure, but did he work in conjunction with Professor Bolloux by any chance...?
