*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa FC ***

Do you not remember when we had to play him there near the end of last season and how we was royally skinned by the likes of Saka?? If we were playing quite a low-block it would make sense, but in our relatively high-line? Suicide

We did indeed spend. But how many of those we bought were like WOWZERS we are really going for a title/trophy challenge here? Big wages on the likes of Perisic was certainly backing Conte. But who was it that was bought that you'd say was immediately going to replace someone in the first team...

Thanks for posting this. I do look at the trend for us wrt wages and see it is trending upwards but still way below most of who we would call our rivals. I do suspect that blip in 2023 when compared to Arsenal we had a higher wage bill includes wages for Kane and Lloris and hasn't yet factored...

We also received £100M for a 30 year old Harry Kane (an unbeleivable achievement btw) so i'm not sure our outlay is really that great when compared to our rivals

Ederson from Atalanta would have been great imo. Or perhaps an older mature head who'd get monuites here and there but impart some experience to the likes of Gray (someone like Kante would be a pipe dream i know, but in that mould who has experience and is slightly fading but still decent)...

Great planning is buying the now alongside the future. If Gray is the future DM if you're REALLY serious you buy a specialised one for the now who the future one can rotate with and learn from. Yes, it costs money, but when have any recently successful clubs done it on the cheap? Ange only...

It's fan forum, i thought it was obvious that it was my opinion :) Have slightly edited to show that anyway In terms of DM, who do you mean? I take it you don't mean Gray? Those young CBs are for the future, not for the now. Which illustrates my point - we needed rotation for MVDV, Udogie and...

We've left ourselves very open again imo in terms of LB and LCB, two areas that are vital for how Ange plays. We did it the previous summer as well but at least this summer we got a number 9 in. even when we got MVDV we left it very late and were lucky tbh he hit the ground running (almost...

When we spend BIG to buy a player who will be in direct competition for players already established and who we don't have plans to immediately sell, then i'll think things really are changing. We need a LB to compete with Udogie and a LCB to take the strain off MVDV plus someone to directly...

Sounds like an awful experience @DaveT316 and quite frankly, given the area and the diversity, very bizzare. I do suspect a lot of people who might be connected to the club (or crawl out when a mass of people are attending a game) and have those kinds of views will only dare talk like that so...

It would be if it was done when we are top 4 or 'on the cusp of being great' as it were. ENIC seem to be hapy to splurge when it looks like we are falling back towards mid-table or have a fight to get top 4. Never seemingly when we ARE a top 4 team who - if the splurge is right - could become a...

I'm sure the wages of people such as Gray, Bergvall etc are relatively low. Happy to be corrected on that though. Arsenal haven;t done it many times, but when was the last time we spent big on a player and you thought, damn, bleep me we are really going for it here. Even in that Conte summer...

Ok, gotcha and now i get it. Just had to check as so many autocorrects recently....some of which were indeed vile so i worried another word had become a victim

You're new here, right? :grinning: All those other teams have shown that when it comes to the crunch they are more than willing to pay big bucks (whether that be transfer fees and/or wages) to get that signing that is undoubtedly a 'step up'..we on the other hand...well... We got 5th last...

Diversity?? What word did you mean to write at the end of those first two sentences btw? I feel another entry into the autocorrect thread @Kandi1977 might be due ...just hoping it's not another vile one..

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

That was some of the most balanced play i've seen us undertake under Ange against such a dangerous side. Still some tricky moments but we were up against City, as depleted as they were, they still are always a big threat. Long may we continue to play defend and be as balanced like that. I also...
