Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

The average British voter will forget it if Labour manage to turn around the things that are important to them. Labour, for all their mis steps still have a long way to go before they reach an equivalence with the Tories for the damage they inflicted on the country. That's definitely not...

They inherited a brick show from the previous lot unfortunately. A war in the middle East which has caused societal polarisation; a toxic narrative on immigration which contributed to national riots; NHS backlog; criminal justice backlog; Council finances in dire straits and seemingly several...

Yet they won plenty of trophies after their heyday up to when Klopp took over. Only the League eluded them. That was the difference Klopp made.

Just seen the Welbeck goal again. Romero was ball watching while Porro didn't anticipate the danger and allowed Welbeck to run into space in the centre of the goal for a free header. Of course the ball should never have come across. But no one comes away with any credit from that goal.

In your box it's reasonable to expect one of your 2 main CBs to anticipate danger and not to be standing miles away from your opponent's striker so he can't react. What else was he doing he seemed to just be standing in space?

Wrong side of Welbeck when the cross for the goal came in and plus you could drive a bus between the two of them. He thinks he is an attacking midfielder but needs to focus on the basics of defending again.

Udogie has had a hand in costing us 3 goals today. This is so hard to take when we were so much in control 1st half.

    Yves Bissouma

On his game, our most influential midfielder imo even more than Bentancur. We miss him the most when he is out.

Great post but be careful with this line. It reminded me of when the Tories tried to play down the COVID parties. There is genuine anger over the "freebies," many of which people cannot fathom, (yes whipped up by the press but some of it is justified). It's acceptable when a freebie is given...

That's a depressing view mate sorry you feel that way. But Labour governments or left leaning governments have, over the years, made mistakes for sure but have still delivered real progressive societal milestones; state pensions, NHS, welfare state, rebuilding after the war, free travel for...

That's unbelievable mate. Labour have been in power since July and already had to deal with National riots, prisons full and an NHS in amess. The other lot had 14 years to get us into this mess. How can they judge Labour already? The thing for me to not wanting the Tories back, is that the...

Those things you describe are illegal in the UK and absolutely not things that the poster is saying are ok. I am certain that any migrant, even now is expected to respect UK laws. But not all do of course. I'm not clear on her point tbh and, with respect, I'm not sure you are. Take FGM for...

Meanwhile the Tories are still engaged in what they do best, populist culture wars. It’s like they haven’t learnt from the riots that politicians language needs to be tempered. Does anyone seriously believe they are fit for government? The slightly credible Tugenhat will lose out to the batbrick...

Red card all day long for me. It was like a variation of a judo throw.

    Dominic Solanke

I like him. He presses well and has good poacher instincts because he is in the right place to anticipate mistakes. Not Kane obviously but pretty good nonetheless and I think will do well for us if the fans give him a chance. His price tag is not his fault.

    The Goon Thread

Gamesmanship is one thing, targeting a player to injure and put them out of the game is another. In my opinion, they did that with, among others,Rodri yesterday. Trossard should have received a second yellow for deliberately taking out Silva with no attempt to play the ball, instead he got it...

Teams need to change the way they defend set pieces against Arsenal. Sounds easy of course, but firstly protect your goalkeeper by blocking their runners from the side and look for and block Gabriel’s run. At least if you do the former you can give your goalie a chance to collect the delivery...

Wasn't Michael Oliver the ref who misses the blatant kick on Davies in the penalty area during NLD last season? Even though he was looking right at it? I don't normally criticize refs but that was diabolical and only rescued by var. Bet Oliver was gutted when called over to the screen.

I don't rate Lopetegui as a manager. Fortunately clubs like West Ham do.

I really don’t get the anger towards the lad. Good to hear fans singing his name today.
