    The Goon Thread

I am dumbfounded why Arsenal don't feel it necessary to buy a proper striker to win the league. Dumbfounded but pleased though. :)

***OMT Tottenham Hotspur vs Emirates Marketing Project ***

Bloody Hell this is the Spurs I've come to love. Sitting through one of our games is as good for your heart as eating 2 large bowls of lard.

Circus ManUnitus - Nobody's At The Wheel

Plus Amorim is the latest "shiny toy" manager, young and unproven anywhere outside of Portugal.

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

I think Labour need to sack their Media team. Plus Starmer seems to be about as good at "politics" as Rishi Sunak. Both are clearly very intelligent in their own right but the nuance needed around policies and political instincts completely escapes them Labour could have been more honest pre...

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

You know, if it wasn't religion, human beings would just find something else to sow division and hatred. Just look at Football fans in that respect. It's what many humans do. I know a little bit about Islam the religion but certainly not enough to consider myself a scholar of it (as I suspect...

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

It wasnt exactly a mirror though. It was harder for Lopetegui as there were only 8 minutes separating our 2nd and 4th goals on Saturday and as you say he was already preparing subs at 2-1. Ange had 20minutes from Brighton's first to their third; 10 minutes between the second and third goals. He...

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

In fairness, the only time he ever looked good at Spurs was in his first games under Poch. I remember most fans thinking we have a phenomenally talented and exciting player here. Of course he struggled with his fitness then.

    Dominic Solanke

In fairness I love them both. They are quite similar but I like the passing that we see from Solanke to keep attacks going whereas Richy seems stronger aerially. Think Dom Solanke is going to be a big player for us.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

I think your last sentence is key. It doesn't matter who he decides to start with, because at this level, that should be based on who he thinks the best players will be for a particular game and coaches will know that better than any football fan. The important thing is for him to recognise...

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

But maybe the options available were not the right options; it's hard to know with that statement taken out of context. After all, in the previous season didn't he get Benjamin Stambouli instead of his preferred option? I am sure he wouldn't have turned down a top class of DM.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

It wasn't my opinion, that doesn't count for brick. It was widely reported at the time. He then went and bought Wanyama the following season so clearly he wanted a different option to play alongside Dembele. I think he saw Dier as a Utility defensive player rather than in any fixed position...

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

No it wasn't he wanted Morgan Schneiderlin. We didn't get him so he tried Dier in that role instead. It worked so he carried on.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

I remember he wanted a specific player Morgan Schneiderlin but we couldn't agree a fee with Southampton.

He is more defensively minded than Maddison both positionally and tackling. He is more suited to a deep lying midfielder position than Maddison IMHO.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Ange has more options to switch things that Poch did - he has square pegs to fit into square holes. In Poch's second season he had to shoehorn a CB into a defensive midfielder. Agree that Dembele was a beast, but his body struggled with the demands of the PL. Same with Wanyama. Where the...

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

Liverpool nearly got a draw though, (think we score with pretty much the last kick) whereas we were beaten much earlier. So I would favour Klopp's approach but Ange didn't have defenders sitting on the bench. I mean what are the chances of losing 2 centre backs and a FB in one game?

I love this guy already. Doesn't just fight for the ball either. He has decent vision to keep an attack going and he gets himself quickly into the box - the sign of a poacher. Great buy IMHO.

Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

It may well be a good idea but not in isolation which was how he was presenting it, in other words eye catching but not thought out. The IFS produced an interesting report on how removing stamp duty on primary residences can be part of a suite of tax measures...

So in their first 100 days they have successfully dealt with National Far right riots; the appointment of James Timpson to deal with the prison system is a good thing that needs time to be seen through; Have reached multiple pay deals where the last government failed. Easy to build a narrative...
