Agreed re: single income child benefit - it is a very unfair policy.

that’s only for payroll and it is very inconsistently applied. There is no net benefit test either.

I made my point badly. I meant to say there should be a legal presumption against tax avoidance schemes unless they can demonstrate a net benefit to society.

Its always the same, people who subscribe to aggressive tax avoidance schemes then try to create an equivalence with pensions or ISAs. Most sensible people realize it's a false equivalence. Pensions and ISAs provide tax avoidance incentives for the long term benefit of society i.e. people saving...

Blimey this forum has gone mad.

*Sigh* 4 months is nothing in terms of time for an investigation to complete. In this case you have victims being accused of being aggressors and vis versus. Witness statements will need to be carefully looked at as there maybe cross over evidence. There will almost certainly be challenges by...

    Yang Min-Hyeok

I remember our FA cup game vs City in 2004. Unfortunately I was there to see first hand how the diminutive Shaun Wright-Phillips tore us a new a*sehole in the second half when they came back from 3-0 down to win 3-4. They were 10 men too iirc just to add to the Spurziness!

    Mauricio Pochettino

He's a good guy- like him a lot. But not a very good England manager.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

It all about opinions of course but VVD is a different class to both Toby and Jan IMHO. I would go as far to say VVD is world class and as good as Toby and Jan were they were not WC and I loved them both. Not only is VVD a great defender but he is also a leader.

    Radu Drăgușin

Dragu, I felt had a really good Euros where he was arguably Romania's best player. I remember thinking to myself, he is quality. That said he may not be suited to playing LCB as I think he has looked a good player in previous games. But far too early to give up on him.

    American politics

I think it will end in tears much the same way Boris's term did. It's a real coalition of Egos; Trump, Vance, Musk, RFK. It would be funny if the stakes were not so high. I think it will seriously damage America too.

    American politics

One of the hardest things for me is that the hard right (and hard left) are making up information and passing them off as factual. I really struggle with this. When facts become too difficult for people to accept, let's make them up, let's amplify their fears and create a bogeyman for them. Elon...

    American politics

This is mainly on the Democrats. For weeks all the polls were saying that 1) economy 2) immigration were the concerns of the electorate with the war in Gaza being a major negative against the Dems. Yet not heard anything from them to counter these issues. Instead they focused on bringing in the...

There’s degrees in that though. To win the league you have to win almost all your games. I am looking for him to challenge for top 4.

I really like Ange, I like his attacking philosophy. But I am also a realist, football is a competitive sport and it's about winning (though not at any cost like Arsenal). Yesterday was great, we blew Villa away in the second half like we did West Ham a couple of weeks ago. We also finally beat...

The Official 2024/25 Premier League Thread

Bloody hell Man Utd and Chelsea were poor today. Some observations on Chelsea, Palmer not yet hitting the heights of last season, Caicedo looking like the player he was at Brighton. Fofana back and showing that he is quality, so much better than Disasi and Badeshiel Enzo just does not seem...

This win will be massive. First time I believe we have beaten a team above us this season. Hopefully this is something we can continue. But as a typical Spurs fan even at 4-1 a small part of me still cannot relax!

Solanke has been top class today. As I said before he is an excellent buy imo.

What a second half performance. Now we just need to get a few more points in the road. Shame we have lost Richy though, been good since he came on.
