    Ivan Perisic

Agreed. He always seemed to make just enough space to get the cross in.

    Tanguy Ndombele

Almost? Literally on a plate, I'd have thought!

    Pedro Porro

Sadly, Ledley did have one major weakness. His knee.

    Tanguy Ndombele

I absolutely agree with all that. I was delighted with all four transfers at the time. I'm very much speaking with the benefit of hindsight.

    Tanguy Ndombele

So talented that he managed to make it to the top echelons of football without really having anything like the killer mentality. The summer of 2019 was a truly disastrous window for us. Ndombele (£54m), Lo Celso (over £40m eventually), Sessegnon (£25m) and Clarke (£10m) adds up to almost £130m...

    Timo Werner

My point was that the PL was on its way towards being dominated by two teams (ManU and Arse) like Spain, before Chelsea shook things up.

    Timo Werner

Ourselves? Nah, we were mid-table fodder until Jol's team in the mid-00s. Without the Abramovich money, I suspect the PL would have ended up much more like Spain, dominated by two huge clubs (ManU and Arsenal) with a regular 3rd wheel (Liverpool) getting CL football every year, and then a fluid...

*** OMT Tottenham Hotspur v AFC Bournemouth ***

We're fudged, aren't we? I'll be very happy to escape this one with a point. Hopefully Veliz will get some game time and we won't get any more injuries or red cards.

It never clicked for him at Liverpool, and he wasn't exactly free-scoring in the Prem for Bournemouth, albeit in a team that got relegated. However, he did well in the Championship and has hit a run of form this season. Snippet from his Wikipedia page: Maybe worth a punt at the right price...

Combined Tottenham team of the last 20 years

So many great players! Some tough decisions to make, like whether Verts and Toby as a partnership are better than King +1. Or just play all three of them with Ledley striding into midfield from the centre. Or maybe push Verts out to LB, as he played for Belgium... Lloris Walker -- Toby -- King...

    Guglielmo Vicario

It's not just the shot-stopping. He leads the backline and looks to dominate the area, as well as stepping up and helping to pass out from the back. Signing a top-notch keeper is difficult - see how ManU and Arsenal have struggled. Looks like our recruitment team have played a blinder here.

Eesh. Just can't see us hanging on for 6 minutes.

Well, you can't say that wasn't coming. I reckon we need to score another if we're going to win this one.

    Mighty Spurs vs Everton

Quite. Sonny has had an uncharacteristically poor touch this half. He's probably knackered though.

    Ah yes. Very good point.

Not sure taking Sarr off was the right decision. I'd have subbed GLC on for Skippy and dropped Sarr back instead. Or taken Johnson off, who's been ineffective for most of the match.

Danjuma hat trick on its way!

    Mighty Spurs vs Everton

Rightly disallowed, but you just can't rely on that sort of decision. Emerson was far too soft. Hopefully that's a wake-up call. Everton playing well, with excellent pressing. They definitely deserve a goal. The most worrying thing, however, is Dier and Davies as a CB partnership playing a...

    Mighty Spurs vs Everton

It's absolutely ridiculous. Backheeling your way up the pitch! They're just playing with so much confidence. Wouldn't be surprised with another 4-1. I do think we'll concede though.

    Ben Davies

I couldn't agree more. He's an experienced player with good footballing intelligence, who's well aware of his limitations and works within them effectively. It's rare that he gets embarrassed, despite his lack of pace and not being top notch on the ball.
