Jurgen, I saw you give him some praise for his recent performances but I am guessing you still have some doubts, or have you been converted? I am not convinced he is going to be a goal machine but I think he will always be a PITA to play against.

Well, he got half a game and he didn't brick the bed. It must have been a tough season for him but that should've cheered him up. Merry Christmas, Eric.

    Mighty Spurs vs Everton

Interesting. I was watching Skipp and when we had the ball with our back two, Everton clearly wanted to press them both but Skipp kept one of the two Everton pressers occupied. Basically, the Everton player either had to press Davies, in which case Skipp would be free to receive the ball, or...

I know he is young but I think the days of him worrying about balls dropping are well in the past.

    Richarlison

Yes. A lot of people were very excited by the prospect of Claesen playing for Spurs in the traditional 4-4-2 but Pleat went for 4-5-1 with Allen up front, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Getting the Chuckle Brothers in to coach the defence finally paid off.

    RIP Jimmy Greaves.

I always think the blue socks with the white tops are the "official" Spurs socks, except for when we play in Europe, of course.

Jeez, I am old. Every time I see a mention of "the Avengers", I think of this woman. Not that I am complaining.

I do worry that the captain of the Enterprise is about to send him on a mission from which he is unlikely to return.

    Micky van de Ven

Well, yeah, you are almost certainly right but that does not invalidate the assertion that speed can be improved through coaching. I have a vague memory of Linford "Lunchbox" Christie doing some speed coaching at a London club but I may just be imagining it.

Not strictly true but it certainly helps to have some natural talent.

Guilty as charged. Jeez, I feel like my dad discussing Tommy Lawton. Back to Son.

Yes. I believe the incident came about because Bremner, whom he considered a friend, had gone in hard on Mackay soon after Mackay had recovered from his first or possibly second broken leg; this was in an era when players rarely, if ever, came back from a broken leg. I'd assumed Mackay was...

Blanchflower is before even my time, although I remember him as a Sunday newspaper football columnist. Mabbsy is my fave but I wouldn't pretend he had the same sort of tactical nous as Danny boy.
