It’s my own intelligence I’m questioning at this stage.

He is what he is. Capable of moments of brilliance but unreliable.

That’s his “engraved memory” of the final? No wonder we put in such an insipid performance then. Pathetic.

He’s emerging as a real leader in this group. Our most important player now I think.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

My view is that there is/was a very fine line between winning 0-3 at Man U and losing 3-2 at Brighton. We’re still very brittle (or fragile as Ange might say) so the third goal we got at just the right time v Utd was the key to killing them off. Had we done the same just before HT v Brighton...

The Game Is About Glory Podcast

I think it’s more about building a strong unit than relying on individuals. Verthongen - Toby - Dembele - Wanyama. As a collective they were stronger than the sum of their parts. Ange did talk about building “relationships” on the pitch at some point last season iirc.

    Well yes exactly

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

It’s a vicious circle. We know it and unfortunately our opposition also knows it. I can imagine the likes of Milner using this as a motivation at HT yesterday.

Welcome Ange: To Dare is to Didgeridoo

I get what he is saying. If it were as easy as “make some subs” then maybe we should all have a try at this football management lark. Bielsa made a post-match comment a couple of years ago along the lines of “everyone thinks the solution is the one that hasn’t been tried yet”. He was right.

    OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton - Sunday 6 October at 4.30 pm **

At least it’s refreshing to see the manager accept responsibility as opposed to absolving himself of any blame, rubbishing the club and basically resigning on the spot.

Nailed it there! I’ve always said it’ll take a special combination of manager and players to change that. Honestly I had hope that Ange might just be the manager, but the players? Come on, where’s the fcuking spine, the leadership?

We shouldn’t need to score 3 to win a game against Brighton

    Luka Vuskovic

Yes of course he is, as a pure defender from memory I would probably go with Cannavaro but they were completely different style of players. Incidentally I remember talking to some Italians at the time and they reckoned that while Baresi was very good, he wasn’t as good as Scirea! Edit: Apologies...
