***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Kings Road WAN KERS - Sat, 5.30pm, Stamford S**thole***

For me the season started at Man U. We had shown in small periods what our game could look like previously, but in that game we truly dominated regardless of the score.

As predicted, with a bit of time things are beginning to come together - not getting carried away, but you can see what was blatantly obvious from the start, that RDZ is going to have us being a very good footballing side....

we have had good halves, good 30 mins, good 60mins performances while not always getting the results we might deserve. We are now getting whole game performances and all that demonstrates is the progress has really been in one direction.

Another important thing to note, is the starting XIs have had many changes over those promising performances...an indication to me that the group is learning as one. Yes, we are all going to think Tonali/Matty are the go to partnership BUT I fear not, many of these players are capable. A lot of the football (passing) isn't intricate or specialized, it's more born out of bravery, trust and confidence.

Agreed. Although I also think Savio will be decent too if he can stay fit! His performance against Utd was good but just needs to work on improving his end product, He’s the closest thing we have had to an out and out winger since Aaron Lennon.
I thought if you need to work 'on improving your end product ' you'd get ridiculed by some on here, and regularly called 'brick' ''where attacks go to die' etc

Fair play, I personally think Tonali will justify the fee - everyone was laughing at Chelsea splashing the cash on Fernandez to begin with but then he ended up proving his worth and I think Tonali is every bit at his level and going to be that important to us.

I think Savio will too with time (I'm thinking next season) but that's harder to argue because I know you will throw his stats back at me, but having watched plenty of him in Spain I think if used properly on the left he is going to be great and justify the fee.

Obviously going to take time to see either way, just my opinion....
The only reason people questioned the fees paid is because it was Spurs who paid the fees. Had those same players gone to Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or Emirates Marketing Project for the same money we wouldn’t have heard a peep. Disappointing thing for me was that we even had some of our fans on here carping on about it. If you want good players at a good age, who have already shown that they are premier league ready then of course they won’t be gettable for anything other than big money. Well done to Spurs for backing the manager and paying it.

For me I think we had our pants pulled down with Mudryk, Savio and Marmoush. Time will tell.
Mudryk is a loan. Let’s indeed give the other two a little bit of time before we judge them, I thought Savio showed some things against Man Utd that indicated why the manager was happy to sanction big money to be paid for him.

So, rewatching the game and mvdv get booked for his challenge in the run up to the Palmer incident.
Two points, I thought you don't get a booking if advantage is played, has that rule changed?
If it hasn't been changed why did no Chelsea player get booked for their through the back challenges some of which were late as well?

There was never any such rule. The only one in that sort of area is that a ref cannot let a quick free kick be taken if he is going to book a player.

I see a lot on here thought it was a comfortable watch, I didn't. We played well and looked in control but I've seen so many games like that in the past in which we've not got over the line. I feel far less confidence watching or listening to matches than when I'm at the game.
It's a lot more comfortable watching it when you already know the result ...
Even so, I did not find it massively exciting, and I speak as one who puts defeating Chelsea only slightly below getting a J Arthur from Joanne Whalley in a nurse's uniform on his list of top fantasies.
To use a less sexist analogy, it was like watching an anaconda slowly throttling its prey rather than a tiger ripping its prey to shreds.

Was there not an instance a couple of years ago against Liverpool where that was the reason for I think Bergvall not being sent off?

Excerpt from football.london on the incident.

Everyone watching thought referee Stuart Attwell had decided to play advantage and that he would come back to the foul afterwards. However, that did not happen and the footage shows why.

Attwell did not play advantage. He did not think there was a foul. After Bergvall slides in to make the tackle, Attwell can be seen pointing at the ball, to say the Spurs midfielder won the ball, rather than committing a foul. he did not outstretch his arm to play advantage.

So it was not a mistake that the referee refused to give a second yellow card for the foul, but a mistake from the referee in not thinking it was a foul in the first place.
