***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Kings Road WAN KERS - Sat, 5.30pm, Stamford S**thole***

In my opinion was the most comfortable I've felt watching us play at the Bridge in years, and that's because we dominated the midfield as we have done in previous games.

Some have suggested we had our 'pants pulled down' over the signings of Tonali and Fernandes and I've never agreed with that at all. They just need games in a new side, and are both class and better than most central midfields in the league. It's the front 3(mainly CF) we really need to look at now, then I think we are a serious unit....
I think Fernandes will be the signing of the summer!

It's almost like you need more than 4 games for a completely new team and style of play to get going :)....
Who knew eh? (clearly not some of our posters on GG :tearsofjoy: )

I’ve been to watch us countless times at Stamford Bridge and can count the times I have come away happy on the fingers of one hand. Yesterday I was incredibly so, not just because of the result that we thoroughly deserved, but because of the plan, the shape and the passing patterns. Chelsea’s only moments came when we executed a sloppy pass. They were set up to press us to death but we played through it with confidence. Hats off to the manager and his coaching staff.

I said in the summer i thought he was our best signing - he's got several levels of potential in him and the high transfer fee will be more than justified should he step up. Our other signings don't really have that room to improve relative to their fee imv

Read the write up in the Observer today, 3 quarters of it was about Henderson and how good he’s been for Chelsea this season, along with a few paragraphs about Robertson and how he was brought in to do the same for Spurs but it hasn’t clicked yet. Then the last quarter of it was some matter of fact comments about the match itself.

That piece was definitely written a few days ago, so obvious.

Dear football writers,
sorry for fudging up your narrative
Yours truly
Spurs.

did Henderson even play yesterday?

I watched the whole game and didn't notice him once, and I would have, I think he's a clam

I see a lot on here thought it was a comfortable watch, I didn't. We played well and looked in control but I've seen so many games like that in the past in which we've not got over the line. I feel far less confidence watching or listening to matches than when I'm at the game.

Agreed. Although I also think Savio will be decent too if he can stay fit! His performance against Utd was good but just needs to work on improving his end product, He’s the closest thing we have had to an out and out winger since Aaron Lennon.

Fair play, I personally think Tonali will justify the fee - everyone was laughing at Chelsea splashing the cash on Fernandez to begin with but then he ended up proving his worth and I think Tonali is every bit at his level and going to be that important to us.

I think Savio will too with time (I'm thinking next season) but that's harder to argue because I know you will throw his stats back at me, but having watched plenty of him in Spain I think if used properly on the left he is going to be great and justify the fee.

Obviously going to take time to see either way, just my opinion....

I always feel like we have a mistake in us, we are far too happy to play the ball around at the back.

We got away with a couple yesterday, yes we recovered well, but I'd rather not make the mistakes in the first place.

For me I think we had our pants pulled down with Mudryk, Savio and Marmoush. Time will tell.

Don't get the criticism of him to be honest. We are never going to be a team of perfect technicians and we need someone like him who gets around the pitch and does some of the dirty stuff, and he is more than capable of scoring a goal as he's proven....

Not only that, but he already proved he could be a 10 in a good side under Poch. He clearly isn’t a Madders type, and there are times when I wish he sees a pass earlier or trusts himself to execute it, but we can absolutely get results with him in that position, just with him bringing the strengths he has, which are many.

I think the big signings of JPvH, Tonali, Fernandez, Savio and Marmoush will be good ones. I always thought Fernandez would be the pick of them. I've wobbled a little with van Hecke but still back him. He seems a great lad as well.

Where I had a couple of concerns was around Robbo, Senesi, Tosin but so far they've done just fine. They add depth and in Robbo's case he's being used most of the time as the 1st team LB.

Right now it looks like the transfer work in the summer is paying off whilst we already had some real top 4 talents with Porro, VDV and Kudus. There's more to come from Tel and Solanke, whilst the promotion of Kinsky looks like a really good decision and Gray and Bergval look set for a big future. Gallagher and Bents add depth in the right areas as well.

That leaves us in a great position where we don't have a massive dependency on Madds, Kulu and Udogie but can enjoy their talents when they're in the team. It also reduces the pressure on Odobert and Simons to rush back.

Richi who?
