Will every team that lost to City in the season they were relegated be analysing all the results of that season to see if they can make a claim based of others results?

This should be the way.

IMO they should be dropped out of the league entirely , stripped of their titles and sued by every club that lost out financially because of their cheating.

I get it. But would be a waste of time and money. From a legal perspective the club can only go after loss of revenue which is defined nothing hypothetical. As the charges against City are only 2009-2018 that’s the only period that can be considered.

Burnley were only able to sue for defined revenue losses. Spurs due to the 5th place finishes in that period probably have the largest financial claim against City but plenty of other clubs have grounds to go after them. Manchester United and Liverpool lost out on multiple league titles. Everton a Champions Legaue spot

I honestly think this is the end of City being a major club. They will do a mini Leeds. Eventually coming back but will be hamstrung by the FFP rules like Saudi Sportswashing Machine and their owners will lose interest.

Only people to feel sorry for would be the genuine City fans but they have had an amazing 15 years.

If you offered me 8 League Titles, 4 FA Cups, 7 League Cups and 1 Champions League and then we are a mid table club for the rest of time I would take it with a sorry to my future generations.
 
This is the biggest mess for the premier league to sort out. There's no way it can be completely fairly sorted for clubs who lost our on money or were relegated.

Take this as an example.

Last season we took four points off city. Without those and looking at westham's results it becomes a question of goal difference that kept us up.

That means West Ham have a case for saying we might have gone down if city's results are expunged. This then has to be multiplied by every season they have been playing while the rules were being broken.

Will a club beaten to promotion by a club that shouldn't have been relegated then want compensation?

It's bottomless.

That’s not for the Premierleague to sort. They will determine a financial and or sporting punishment.

Once that’s taken care off, the clubs can take legal action. But as per the Burnley v Everton case, only the ones that have a direct, clear and non hypothetical impact will go anywhere.

Could be the end of the prem as we know it this. The reputational damage to the league as a product could be huge. Serie A in the mid to late 00s got mired in scandal and arguably has never recovered. The league looks corrupt now.

I think the fine Chelsea got recently was pre-emptive of this news coming out. There’ll be a points deduction of less than 20 points which keeps them in the league, as anything more opens the door to more questions, counter suing from aggrieved clubs etc. Easier for the prem to dish out a historic fine and transfer ban on top and say it’s dealt with.

It’s not comparable to Chelsea.

In Chelsea’s case the Premier League were actively defending Chelsea and helped them to convince the independent panel that they would not have broken financial rules, that no sporting advantage was gained and that the guilty parties no longer ran the club. Most importantly they self reported the infractions and were fully compliant.

Emirates Marketing Project are the opposite of that. They gained a huge advantage which cannot be disputed. The would have been over the the financial limits by 9 figures. It’s still owned by the same people who commited the infraction who went to extreme lengths to cover it up.

They could be removed from the Premier League which would mean City lose their membership and are demoted to a lower division from the end of the season - I'm pretty sure the EFL would love them to be honest.

Points deduction works better though than a straight removal from The PL

It didnt stop the vindictive elements in Scottish football putting Rangers in the bottom tier.
There are so many ifs, buts and maybe's and they will fuel the myriad of weird proposals put forward on the internet.
Nobody will know what will happen until the sanctions are published. I have no expectation that that the punishment will be as severe as many do, life is not fair and the rich and powerful usually get an easy ride.
