As much as I would love it to be a "RDZ has talked Bergvall in to staying" story Bentancur is a fair bit older than JPHV & VDV and has suffered 2 pretty significant injuries since joining the club. He is probably one of the most well adapted payers to RDZ tactics and will primarily be a backup player this season. I suspect its more to do with than than looking to sell him.

i am all for selling bentancur and keeping bergvall
i would be happy to sell xavi, odobert, kulu and maddison too if we fetch enough to afford upgrades. not all of them will get back to their previous best and who knows how long they need and whether our medical/rehab department is up to scratch yet

All potentially valuable players. I’d suggest more value to us than we could scrape together if sold, and who’s going to take their wages on?
Madders doesn’t rely on pace - and that’s what’s typically impacted post injury. The others are all pretty young and should heal and bounce back.

His ability to turn and twist quickly will be affected, Bentancur before his injury used to twist his way out of trouble and progress play so much more than he does now. Madison might never have been fast but he is, or at least was, tricky.

Keep in mind there is a consequence to that.
Nobody is going to buy those injured players, basically they will have half a season to prove they are worth keeping beyond next summer. Re sell Bentancur and keep Bergvall, I like Bergvall, I get how we all want our youth to succeed, I get Bentancur isn't the player he was pre injury, but ...
If Lucas Bergvall becomes as good a player as Bentancur, he would have done very well. Other reality is Bentancur is probably happier to be back up, Bergvall expects playing time.
