Will Lankshear

You can have a buy back clause, but if a player feels they were dumped out of a club when they want to stay, do not assume he will want to come back.

People on here wwre slagging Vuskovic off when he said he wanted to leave for first team football. Lankshear has always said he wants to play for Spurs.

I look forward to the next time a player wants to move and people on here accuse him of disloyalty.

We have needed to be ruthless for years, its about time we started. It’s going to upset a lot of fans who have a soft spot for some of these youngsters but if it gets us back competing at the top of the table, i’m happy to take the sacrifice. There will be hundreds more “potential superstars” in our academy in the next few years, i’m sure we will be fine.

I don't agree, striker is one area we're light and by all accounts he's certainly capable of minutes. We should be trying to integrate him into the 1st team squad and maybe loan him out in January if he's not performing well.

I dont know if Lankshear is good enough, but when you talk about senior English strikers to replace Kane, there aren't any. When you talk about U21 English strikers to replace Kane, Lankshear is in the conversation.

Most people who have these big opinions of Lankshear haven't actually watched anything of him other than seeing replays of a few goals he scored in the Championship last season. He still has lots to work on and isn't close to being good enough for PL football yet. PL football would just swallow him up right now.

Middlesboro is a good move for him and we'll get a good fee. It makes sense to all for us to sell him including a decent sell on percentage and/or buyback clause.

I watched him plenty last season and imo he has a batter first touch and shot that Richarlison
He is also more than capable physically
I watched their games specially for him and Donley, the latter who wasn’t great unfortunately

I think this is a huge mistake. Why are we selling the future? Vuskovic, Bergvall, Lankshear. I appreciate that the first two may have wanted to leave to pursue first team football but it still doesn’t land well.

It puts greater emphasis on success now. If we are selling our future to pay for now then we really are fudged if it doesn’t land.

Hopefully once we have transformed our squad we will work on bringing back the youth and building for the future whilst minimal changes are required for the first team each window and so only a couple of big signings each window to keep everything fresh etc

I think Lankshear can be the new Kane for club and country.
I don't think he'll be given the opportunity this season to be that for Spurs under De Zerbi's aggressive approach.
And if he doesn't want another loan, and is being pitched regular starts by a decent side then you can totally see the appeal to Will.
If we do sell him and insert the seemingly standard sell-on and buyback clauses then it offers us some insurance around the lovely scenario of him really kicking on to the level where he can be a first team player for a team challenging in the top 4 of the PL

So he had a very good loan last season and has been training during the off season. You would have thought at the very least he would go on the preseason tour so that the manager would at least have a look at him before any decision was made on his future. It makes absolutely no sense that we sell him right now.

You really have to wonder who is making the decisions here because this makes absolutely no sense.

What I cannot fathom is howcome this aggressive approach excludes Lankshear but includes Davies, particularly after we have also signed Robertson. 🤨

Some of you need to get a grip about how you rate young players - 'The next Kane', 'Already better than Solanke and Richy' Fudge me :D

Yet in the real footballing world, he's going to Middlesborough....

That’s because he isn’t as good as Kane yet. And he isn’t being provided with the opportunity to develop to that level with us.

Last season was an excellent season for him. Is he ready yet? To start I’d say no. I think calling him better than Solanke and Richarlison is premature. Both of those are International strikers capped multiple times by their country.

I think it’s more of a vote by people against those two strikers for not being the right player for us this season. People would rather give Lankshear a chance than to watch Solanke or Richarlison again.

For me Lankshear would be third choice for us this season behind a new striker and whoever remains from Solanke or Richarlison. Maybe that’s not enough for Lankshear. Maybe he wants to be the main option and to start his career proper. If that’s true then he can’t be blamed but he hasn’t reached that level to start regularly for us.

I have full belief in his future. And only time will reveal how close to true I was. And yes I could also be spectacularly wrong.
