Good news, but it is still sad to see that 40% of the electorate went with one of the Re-bigot parties.
On Burnham, I heard him interviewed recently and he said a lot of the right things, but beyond that I don't know a whole heap about him. Is he a true darling of the left or just another neo-lib in sheep's clothing?

I’m not at all convinced by Burnham; severe case of the emperor’s new clothes with him, I reckon. But no denying he’s delivered a resounding win in a seat I thought he’d probably lose at the beginning of the campaign.

His politicking can be a little off. He was the one who changed the leadership rules for his own benefit, but it ended up enabling Corbyn to get on the ballet (who then beat him)

There is never going to be another election in which Burnham is simultaneously earning votes as the Manchesterism candidate, the Labour candidate and the boo to Keir Starmer candidate.
It’s quite conceivable that as sitting PM he loses his seat at the next GE to a slightly less revolting Farageist. Perhaps despite a Labour majority in the Commons, which would be constitutionally exciting.

I always thought Burnham would win, so I am delighted he has, especially in the face of the oppo. Will be funny to see the fall out now as Restore and Reform are now at each others necks, there was a great point made the other day that Lowe is now the new Farage and that Farage being established is now there to be shot at, which us alien to him, which I thought was a really interesting point. Retore are are now the Wasp buzzing in Farage ear, which makes the next few years more tricky for him

Its absolutely the best thing about the British constitution, that for £200 any loony can stand for parliament. Its brilliant when these sort of photos go global
Starmer should really fight any leadership challenge and make sure Burnham is given some scrutiny, every time he's been questioned in detail over the last few weeks he's been found lacking. I think he's a good communicator but there's a debate to be had if he's more of a soft left populist or someone with genuine fresh ideas and vision.

He's done we'll to show he can sure up his right flank well enough against Reform, and will now cruise the Labour members with his left credentials, so that's a pretty impressive governing coalition he's got

Was just going to post the same thing. Rick Edwards is in the US covering the World Cup for 5Live; he said on the station this morning that when he saw that photo he felt a weird mix of homesickness and pride.

I agree and he has to face the scrutiny, thats from a fan of his. A clean campaign is needed with all bells and whistles to start cleaning up the mess in the UK.
Loads of quick wins to gain support back when he gets in, a role back on some of Reeves policy will do him well.
